Lympstone Manor

Practicality was a driving force behind many of the design decisions, and Michael Caines himself checked out Havwoods before finally selecting the character grade flooring.

Michael Caines took his looming 20-year anniversary at Gidleigh Park very seriously and decided it was precisely the right time for a move.

He found this glorious private house in his home county of Devon before it went on the market, put in an offer and it was accepted within hours. Just 16 months later Lympstone Manor opened to rave reviews.

Although working with London-based design duo Merkai, Michael was personally involved in every aspect of the building’s interior. It is a real labour of love and testament to the Michael Caines vision, driven by his desire to create a balance between the historic and the contemporary, to embrace local talent, maximise on the glorious setting and endorse the practical.

Indeed, practicality was a driving force behind many of the design decisions, including opting to use wood flooring, and Michael himself checked out Havwoods before finally selecting the character grade, brushed, smoked and white oiled Versailles panels and herringbone blocks; both special orders.
