The firm’s fourth UK capital site will be The Emory, located in the upmarket area of Knightsbridge, like one of its sister properties.
All-suite luxury
Set to open in winter 2023, the luxury all-suite hotel will boast 60 rooms set over nine floors, complete with a penthouse designed by Rigby & Rigby. With a 360 degree view of the capital, the hotel’s rooftop will be the jewel in its crown – an entirely private space dedicated to hotel guests only.
The progressive spirit of The Emory is also showcased in the hotel’s culinary offering, with chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten introducing his ABC concept of fresh, local and conscious cuisine to London for the first time from his Manhattan outpost. Beneath ground, a newly created wellness space, with a 22 m pool, will be set across four floors.
Grand design
The architecture was designed by the late Richard Rogers and Ivan Harbour of architectural firm RSHP. Contemporary design with a striking ‘sails’ structure soaring above the treetops of Hyde Park, will be combined with discreet luxury, including a private entrance on Old Barrack Yard.
Within, each floor will showcase the aesthetic of a different interior designer including Alexandra Champalimaud, André Fu, Pierre Yves Rochon, Rémi Tessier and Patricia Urquiola.
50 year first
Maybourne Hotel Group CEO Gianluca Muzzi said: “This is our first new London property in 50 years, and we believe it will be a truly groundbreaking new addition to our distinguished hotel family. We plan to bring the inspiration and creative energy that have made our other hotels so notable, whilst also making The Emory a world class hub of art and culture. This opening further cements our vision and commitment to growing Maybourne Hotel Group, and heralds a bold new future for the company.”
This will be the group’s sixth hotel, including its two international properties The Maybourne Beverly Hills, USA and The Maybourne Riviera, France.
