Hotel group L+R is making the final preparations ahead of opening its latest property, the Gran Marbella Resort & Beach Club in the famous Spanish destination.
The hotel will be the latest addition to L+R’s Iconic Luxury Hotels collection, becoming its ninth choice for guests looking for a discerning, luxurious place to stay. The group’s other properties include such destinations as the Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort, British country house hotels Cliveden House and Chewton Glen, and the recently opened Palm House in Palm Beach, Florida.
A taste of Andalucia
Gran Marbella Resort features 125 bedrooms, and ten differing suites, with their own private pools or Jacuzzis, and extensive terraces that are ideal spaces for private dining or entertaining a few friends. The property is set along the edge of one of the destination’s best beaches, Playa del Real de Zaragoza, and has been finished to ensure a relaxed feel with nods to Spanish cultural heritage. Local tiling and stonemasonry, and horseshoe arches link to Andalusia’s Moorish legacy.
Around the hotel’s extensive and lusciously landscaped exterior spaces, guests will come across no less than three swimming pools, one catering for families, another designed as an adult retreat. There are spaces perfect for wedding ceremonies and celebrations, too.
For those with a leaning towards wellness, the hotel features an extensive spa offering. A sauna, indoor pool and steam room are supplemented by seven treatment cabins. And, for those looking for more energy, a studio will deliver yoga, meditation, Pilates and gym classes.
The hotel’s all-day dining offer includes open barbecue cooking, while there are a range of bars and relaxation spaces across the property. Down at the beach, guests will find the Amu Beach Club, a second outing for the brand that first appeared in Monaco.
The club features an infinity pool, seaside dining, and direct beach access, welcoming locals and guests alike. The aim is that this will become a vibrant social hub, and a great place to watch the sun go down – and enjoy the hours after too.
The opening in Marbella follows hard on the heels of another property launch for the group, in Palm Beach. There, L+R bought a hotel out of bankruptcy in 2019, and then spent three years remodelling the property. After seventeen years closed, there was plenty to do.
A venue with its own unique style
The Palm House features 79 rooms, with the property arranged around a central courtyard with pool. Function spaces lead onto a garden terrace, and poolside lawn, creating a series of spaces with a unique style.
Elsewhere, L+R continues to build its international hotel portfolio, which now extends to more than 100 hotels globally. In the UK, it recently acquired the Holiday Inn Express Folkestone, adding the asset to its Atlas Hotels portfolio of branded mid-market properties. Across Europe, L+R is the largest franchisee of Holiday Inn Express branded properties.
