Bringing together an all-star cast that includes Steinberg Hart, Tara Bernerd & Partners, Martin Brudnizki and Bernadette Blanc, Thompson Hotels’ LA outpost is a real showstopper.

The 190-key Thompson Hollywood expands the brand’s West Coast footprint in style.

A new Hollywood retreat

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the opening of luxury lifestyle hotel Thompson Hollywood on Wilcox Avenue, combining global sophistication with an immersion into the locale for a true in-the-know experience. The 11-storey hotel boasts 190 mid-century-inspired guestrooms, including 16 suites.

Owned by Relevant Group, Thompson Hollywood was created in collaboration with architect Steinberg Hart and interior designer Tara Bernerd & Partners. Meanwhile, signature restaurant Mes Amis (from LA-based chef Lincoln Carson) was designed by Martin Brudnizki, with Bernadette Blanc doing likewise on rooftop lounge and pool Bar Lis; both venues were created and are operated by Ten Five Hospitality.

“Every touchpoint of the Thompson Hollywood experience has been concepted for the discerning traveller, particularly as pent-up travel demand has tourists and locals seeking memorable moments,” said Bruno Vergeynst, managing director of Thompson Hollywood. “Whether it’s the thoughtfully designed lobby and guestrooms by Tara Bernerd & Partners, Chef Carson’s sophisticated dining concepts, the Bar Lis rooftop lounge or our intuitive guest programming, Thompson Hollywood invites guests to embrace a breezy Angeleno lifestyle.”

Grant King, managing partner of Relevant Group, added: “Introducing Thompson Hollywood in one of Los Angeles’ most sought-after real estate markets is a groundbreaking move for the hospitality brand. This property not only perfectly sits at the storied intersection of the technology, media and entertainment realms, but will inevitably heighten Hollywood’s visibility as a coveted hospitality destination.”

A design-led social hub

London-based studio Tara Bernerd & Partners aims to make the property stand out by delivering timeless elegance with a raw industrial edge, drawing inspiration from the West Coast modernist movement and incorporating elements of Hollywood glamour.

A trellis-covered walkway leads guests to the lobby, pairing mid-toned timber with lush greenery, custom terrazzo flooring, a collection of mid-century and contemporary furniture, and bespoke Tara Bernerd & Partners rugs. Here, coffee, cocktails and casual bites are served in the retro-green onyx-topped lobby bar.

Meanwhile, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the property with natural light, while providing views of the Hollywood Hills and beyond. And mid-century furniture, terrazzo detail and a curated collection of modern art feature throughout.

The guestrooms come with terrazzo-finished bathrooms and DS & Durga amenities, an honour bar, Egyptian cotton linens and 55-inch smart TVs. While they’re visiting, guests can also make use of a state-of-the art 24-hour fitness studio.
