Lifestyles of the rich and famous: residences that feel like luxury hotels

by | Oct 31, 2018 | General News, News

Luxury hotel brands are increasingly working to create residential properties that are central to their business strategies, seeing an expanding trend in which new hotels also include full-time living quarters

It’s no secret that the ultra rich and the often famous enjoy name brands, steeping themselves as they do in luxury labels. This tendency is now extending to where they live, with the wealthiest people in the world buying residences branded by luxury names like Four Seasons, Armani, Bvlgari and more.

For these branded properties—of which there are an increasing number worldwide, currently clocking in at roughly more than 400 projects—buyers have shown themselves as willing to pay premiums of as much as 132 percent in the Bangkok market, or 69 percent in Kuala Lumpur versus the prices they are willing to pay for similar non-branded dwellings, according to numbers that come from a report by Knight Frank LLP, a property consultancy.

In fact, a closer look at the market for this sort of thing in Thailand shows that nearly 40 percent of all new developments are branded. That’s certainly nothing to scoff at.

The Most Coveted Brands

As in any industry, it can be quite difficult to get a read on what the most sought after brands in the luxury hospitality market are and why.

There are, however, names among those that are popular right now that stand out, and many of those names are actually familiar. In fact, many of the most coveted addresses for hotel branded properties among the ultra rich are similar to the most coveted accommodations, with a list that includes hotel-branded residences by JW Marriott, the Four Seasons, Versace, and Aman Resorts.

For those who have never had the pleasure, these are properties that offer service levels on par with the best hotels in the world, with lists of available amenities such as private chefs, the option to order off of extensive room service menus and, perhaps most importantly, 24-hour concierge services that remain at residents disposal. The end result is, of course, what it sounds like: a private residence with all the perks of staying in one of the world’s most luxurious hotels.

Where to Find Branded Private Residences

These luxury-hotel branded residences are, perhaps unsurprisingly, located in some of the most luxurious markets in the world, including Dubai—where one finds the highest concentration—and throughout Europe. If current trends continue, however, experts report that in the years to come these type of branded residential dwellings will become much more prevalent.

Let’s take a look at a few luxury projects currently underway:
