Leonardo Signs Multiple Hotels in Germany

With numerous hotels formerly operated by Revo Hospitality now available, Leonardo sees and opportunity to expand

Leonardo Hotels is taking major steps to grow its portfolio in Germany, signing seven hotels that were previously operated by Revo Hospitality.

The additions add up to more than 1,750 rooms and include properties in Berlin, Braunschweig, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Hanover and Munich. They have involved making new agreements with a range of institutional landlords who hold the buildings, investors such as Real I.S., Deka Immobilien and Swiss Life. Properties will be transitioning to Leonardo group brands over the coming months.

Revived Hotels to be Rebranded

Revo, having grown rapidly to amass an operating portfolio of 260 hotels, collapsed into administration in early 2026. As well as operating branded hotels for groups such as Accor and Wyndham, it also traded under its own brands such as Aedenlife, Hyperion and Vagabond Club.

In Munich, Leonardo will be converting the former Hyperion hotel to become the Leonardo Royal Munich Bavaria Towers. The 341 room property includes conference and events space, and will become the group’s twelfth property in Bavaria.

In Berlin, two hotels are being taken on in a side by side development. A 336 room former H4 branded hotel will become Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz by Leonardo Hotels, integrating fully into the Leonardo family over time. Next door, Leonardo’s newest brand will be breaking out in the city, as the former H2 hotel becomes Leonardo Smart Berlin Alexanderplatz.

A similar switch will take place in Dusseldorf. There, another former H2 hotel will transition to become Leonardo Smart Dusseldorf. It has 250 rooms, including some group or family rooms with four beds. The Smart brand was launched in June 2026 with the opening of a hotel at Vienna airport, and features smart technology and sophisticated amenities.

“Berlin, Düsseldorf and Dortmund are attractive markets for us, and demand from different segments is strong,” declared Yoram Biton, Managing Director of Leonardo Hotels Central Europe. “These new hotels will allow us to expand our offer and to welcome even more guests to these important locations. We will also be bolstering our presence in the respective cities.”

A Focus on Growth Across Europe

The group has recently restructured its development team in Europe, to take account of expected growth. Already it has 28 new additions for the portfolio planned in 2026, with a further 20 hotels in prospect for opening in 2027. Specific development managers have been appointed to target growth in the Nordics, and in Italy. Leonardo brands are backed by the financial firepower of Israel’s Fattal Hotels group, along with a number of hotel funds supported by several major Israeli investors.

In addition to launching into new markets, Leonardo is also looking to grow new brands, such as the Smart Hotel concept. Its Master aparthotel is another concept looking for new sites, offering accommodation for longer stays. Currently there are Master properties in London, Rome, Barcelona and Athens, with many more planned.
