Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is on the expansion trail in Japan, becoming the first global hotel company to gain a foothold in beautiful Awashima and Nagaizumi.

Wyndham Hotel Group has successfully converted two properties in Japan as the New Jersey-based hotel company continues to ramp up its presence in the country.

We find out more about the latest additions to its 1,700-hotel portfolio across the Asia-Pacific region.

Wyndham celebrates a series of firsts

The 60-room Wyndham Grand Awashima, formerly known as the Awashima Hotel, and 95-room Wyndham Garden Nagaizumi, previously called Nagaizumi Garden, have both recently undergone upgrades. They are the first Wyndham Grand and Wyndham Garden hotels in Japan.

At the same time, Wyndham has become the first global hotel company to enter Awashima and Nagaizumi, two destinations quickly gaining popularity among local and foreign visitors.

Spectacular views combined with proximity to nature

The company has also shed light on what guests can expect at its new properties.

Wyndham Grand Awashima is a Mediterranean-style resort hotel on the tranquil island that inspired the property’s name. Its 60 suites overlook the ocean and Mount Fuji’s distant peak. Guests can enjoy facilities including an outdoor onsen, a concert hall and a wide range of dining options, including venues specialising in local cuisine.

Meanwhile, Wyndham Garden Nagaizumi features 95 suites with traditional Japanese or contemporary styles – all are equipped with kitchenettes, making them ideal for family trips or extended stays. The hotel is set on the slopes of Mount Ashitaka and offers panoramic views of Numazu City and Sugura Bay. Guests can relax in the lush onsen surrounded by abundant greenery, or treat their pets in the onsite dog café.
