12.18. Group and Kempinski join forces

A new venture between 12.18. Group and Kempinski Hotels AG was announced at the recently held Expo Real fair in Munich. The collaboration has been formulated to allow the partners to launch a new concept hotel brand, 7Pines Kempinski.

This brand will sit in the hotel industry’s luxury lifestyle segment and presents an opportunity for both parties to cement their presence in this sector.

Kai Richter, Managing Partner of 12.18. Investment Management, spoke of the venture, saying, “In the future, 7Pines Kempinski will embody one of the leading lifestyle hotel products in the luxury segment. We are proud to be in a position to further develop this unique 7Pines concept with Kempinski as one of the most renowned and Europe’s oldest luxury hotel operators.”

European luxury and excellence come to life in new brand

Kempinski bears the distinction of being Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group, so it only seems natural that they also want to be trailblazers in the luxury lifestyle sector. The group sees the way forward with this through the launch of 7Pines.

Martin R. Smura, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Kempinski Hotels, said, “The Kempinski brand has stood for tradition and excellent hospitality for more than 120 years. This represents an important step in our growth strategy.”

Kempinski currently operates 78 hotels in 34 countries, and the development of the 7Pines brand will allow both it and 12.18. to grow by 20 additional properties by 2022.

One property in particular, the San Carlos Hotel, which will be renovated and rebranded as 7Pines, will mark 12.18.’s inaugural hotel outside of Europe.

“The acquisition of the first property in the US represents a milestone in our company’s history,” said Jörg Lindner, Managing Partner of 12.18. Investment Management.

This will also be a huge score for Kempinski, as it will also mark their first hotel in the Big Apple.

“New York has always been a dream destination for Kempinski Hotels and this important partnership makes it a reality,” said Smura. “Kempinski is now represented in New York and in the heart of Manhattan and we look forward to welcoming the first guests to this vibrant metropolis.”
