Kempinski Hotels has signed a management agreement with Xiong'an Xiongshang Real Estate Co Ltd for a luxury hotel and residences complex in China’s ‘city of the future’, Xiong’an New Area.

Located around 100 km southeast of Beijing in Hebei Province, the new Kempinski Xiong‘an is scheduled to open its doors by the end of 2026.

Abundant amenities

With this project, the luxury hotel group will add 403 rooms and suites as well as 121 residences to its 19 hotels and residences already spread over Greater China.

A ballroom with more than 1,000 sq m and multiple meeting rooms, an all-day dining restaurant, a beer house, a lobby bar, a deli and a Chinese restaurant cater to the demands of both business and leisure travellers. Guests can find relaxation and revitalisation in the hotel’s own indoor pool, spa and modern gym.

Oasis of innovation

Bernold Schroeder, CEO of Kempinski Group and chairman of the management board of Kempinski AG, said: “While our new hotel will be an oasis of innovation in the heart of Xiong’an, our residences promise a luxury living of the highest quality and style à la Kempinski.

“The partnership with Xiong’an Xiongshang Real Estate marks another milestone in our long history in China, where we have been extremely successful over all these years and were able to build fantastic brand recognition. It’s exciting to be part of China’s vision for the city of the future.”

Dynamic gateway

Han Jian You, member of the party committee of China Xiong’an Group, secretary of the party committee, director and general manager of Xiongshang Development Company and executive director of Xiongshang Real Estate Co Ltd, added: “Xiong’an New Area is a major decision of the government to promote the coordinated development of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei.

“It is also our pleasure to work with internationally renowned Kempinski Hotels. With its strong experience in luxury hotel management, we are sure that Kempinski Hotel Xiong’an will be a dynamic gateway, urban landmark and city business card of the whole area.”

Asian additions

Further south in China, Kempinski is also planning Kempinski Yangzhou, scheduled to deliver 200 keys in Q2 2025.

Elsewhere in southeast Asia, the group has an Indonesian pair on the slate, both due to complete in Q1 2027: the 160-room Apurva Kempinski Ubud Bali and the 200-key Apurva Kempinski Lombok.
