The first JW Marriott property to be located in the Carolinas is making good progress even as the US battles to get the Covid19 outbreak under control. We take a look at this exciting new hotel project.

JW Marriott Charlotte edges closer to completion

Construction of the eagerly awaited JW Marriott Charlotte has passed a critical milestone and the project, first announced in November 2018, is on course to be finished in the first half of 2021. Co-developers White Lodging and Crescent Communities, along with their construction partners, have now celebrated the completion of the structural framework of the hotel.

Terry Dammeyer, president and CEO of investments and development at White Lodging, said: “The construction has remained on track as we adjusted to appropriately respond to the Covid19 pandemic. We’re excited to be part of Uptown’s resurgence and bring the JW Marriott brand to Charlotte.”

Getting to know the 381-key JW Marriott Charlotte

Spread over 22 storeys of a glazed tower, JW Marriott Charlotte hotel will boast 381 guest rooms, including 34 suites. The property aims to be a bastion of contemporary luxury, residing in one of the US’ most historic cities.

The tower, located next to Charlotte Convention Centre, will form part of the Ally Charlotte Centre development and overlook a public plaza. The hotel promises to be ideal for business travellers, owing to its ample meeting and conference facilities, which will occupy 15,000 sq ft of space. Corporate guests and tourists alike will also be able to avail themselves of the state-of-the-art spa and fitness centre, rooftop pool and lounge bar.

In advance of next year’s opening, meanwhile, the property’s general manager has been named as David Malmberg, who currently holds the same position at The Westin Austin at the Domain. “I’m excited to continue growing my career with White Lodging and building a team ready to deliver exceptional hospitality in the Queen city – for visitors and locals alike,” he said.
