Inuyama welcomes Japan’s third Hotel Indigo property

IHG is continuing the global rollout of its upper-upscale boutique hotel brand with the launch of a 156-room scheme close to the historic Inuyama Castle and attractive Kiso River.
Hotel Indigo’s rapid expansion shows no sign of slowing anytime soon.
A milestone debut
Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden, the Tokai region’s first international lifestyle boutique hotel, has successfully made its debut. This newly opened property places guests within Urakuen Garden, which is also the setting for the Jo-An teahouse, right by Inuyama Castle and the Kiso River.
The development fuses the brand’s modern hospitality offering with inspiration taken from local history and culture. Pretty walkways, moreover, lead guests from the hotel through the verdant surroundings.
Tsukasa Yanagishima, general manager of Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden, said: “Hotel Indigo is a powerful storyteller and we are constantly thinking of new and exciting ways to contribute to the area of Inuyama and the stories that we share to guests in Japan and abroad.
“We are very proud to be able to open the Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden, a place with such a wonderful history, culture and human warmth. As part of the community, we will do our best to contribute to the development of Inuyama city and the neighbouring areas, and we thank the community for their support as we open this beautiful hotel.”
A reflection of its surroundings
Hotel Indigo Urakuen Garden’s design embodies its locale through the decor in each of the 156 guestrooms, which feature mountain motif wall art representing the landscape of the region.
Adding to the experience, the hotel’s signature restaurant and bar focus on the flavours of Inuyama. Seasonal produce and local specialties are highlighted in Indigo Home Kitchen Yamateras, with stories of the neighbourhood also providing inspiration for the cocktails mixed here. And Bar Yoyama draws on the town’s festival culture through its creative design.
A defining feature of this hotel is the inclusion of the region’s only traditional hot spring, Inuyama Onsen Hakutei no Yu. This indoor-outdoor hot spring site is complemented by the addition of a cutting-edge fitness centre.
Meanwhile, meetings and events can be held in the hotel’s Hibiki room. Floor-to-ceiling windows make the most of this property’s position in these seasonally changing gardens, and design cues are taken from the landscape, Inuyama Festival and the ripples of the Kiso River.
