The expansive InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa has begun welcoming its first guests to the shores of Hayat Island in the UAE.

Launched during InterContinental Hotel & Resorts’ diamond jubilee year, this hotel marks the luxury brand’s entry to the Ras Al Khaimah emirate.

A milestone opening

The newly opened InterContinental Ras Al Khaimah Mina Al Arab Resort & Spa is located on Hayat Island, just 45 minutes by car from Dubai International Airport. Designed to represent the desert, mountains and sea, the 351-key five-star resort is home to a mix of rooms, suites, pool villas, six dining outlets and the brand’s signature offering, Club InterContinental.

His Excellency Abdul Aziz Abdullah Al Zaabi, chairman of RAK Properties, said: “We are pleased with this qualitative addition to our company, which owns great assets in the world of real estate and luxury.”

Haitham Mattar, IHG managing director in India, Middle East and Africa, added: “InterContinental Hotels & Resorts have been pioneering luxury travel in new destinations for over 75 years and the undiscovered destination of Ras Al Khaimah couldn’t be more perfect for a new, best-in-class InterContinental resort.”

Bringing the InterContinental experience to Ras Al Khaimah

All accommodation, from classic sea-view rooms to family villas, comes with balcony and terrace areas, and the private pool villas have expansive living and dining areas as well as their own pools. The presidential suite is the largest accommodation onsite at 200 sq m.

While staying here, Club InterContinental guests benefit from heightened services and amenities, including access to a dedicated check-in area and the exclusive Club InterContinental Lounge.

The resort’s six culinary outlets include the terraced Levant & Nar for modern Levant-influenced cuisine, NoHo for sharing platters and cocktails inspired by the NoHo neighbourhood in New York, and the poolside ShaSha for al fresco dishes and frozen cocktails with ocean views – this is also where a cinema under the stars, sunrise yoga and salsa are hosted.

During their stay, guests can unwind by the infinity pool, take part in curated activities and water sports, or indulge at the Spa InterContinental spa (opening in April 2022), offering a plethora of wellness treatments and facilities including a Turkish hammam.

Among the additional amenities within the resort are a health club complete with a fitness studio, saunas and an outdoor tennis court; the Planet Trekkers kids club and Teens Club facilities; and almost 1,000 sq m of meeting space, not least a 360 sq m ballroom. Completing the experience, the property’s Concierge Programme is available to curate local excursions.
