InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace is now welcoming its first guests in the Italian capital. This new hotel places guests at the heart of Rome on Via Veneto.

Residential-style accommodation meets upscale public spaces, including Scarpetta NYC restaurant, a lounge bar and rooftop venue, at this palatial property.

Transformation of a landmark

InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace is now open as a reflection of the glamour and style this city is known for. The property takes over a landmark that was originally built in 1900 by renowned architect Carlo Busiri Vici to host ambassadors before becoming the American Embassy Library in 1946.

Set apart by its classic columns and gables, among other heritage features, the property now fuses theatrical elements from the original architectural design with the concept of discreet luxury. The hotel places guests close to prominent landmarks like the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon.

Tom Rowntree, Vice President of Global Luxury and Lifestyle brands at IHG, said: “Today we open the doors of the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace, enchanting our guests with a mix of historic architecture, modern art and culture, alongside personalised service with distinctive details, and incredible cuisine. From Suites with Roman arches to room service at night delivered by the chef, we have created a culture of subtle touches of sophisticated charm.”

“This hotel is a true gem in our portfolio of luxury properties, and we look forward to providing our guests with an unforgettable experience to discover the soul of Rome. As expectations of the modern luxury traveller continue to evolve, we recognised an opportunity to both preserve the distinct properties of this Palace building while reimaging the interiors to elevate it to new heights.”

New social venues

The new InterContinental hotel houses 160 residential-style rooms and luxury suites, which all combine neo-classical details with contemporary design, a serene colour palette and Italian craftsmanship. Custom design details, like leather-crafted headboards and fluted wall lamps, draw inspiration from the ancient city and its artisans.

A highlight of this property is its culinary concepts, which include Scarpetta NYC, pairing elevated Italian cuisine with the flavours of a traditional American steakhouse. Both Italian and American wines will be offered alongside a New York-style cocktail menu.

Guests can also head up to Charlie’s Rooftop, inspired by the jovial spirit of a ‘good time Charlie’, for live music, DJ sets, sophisticated mixology and canapés with a view over the city. The first space guests see when they enter the hotel, Anita’s Lounge & Bar, will then provide a space for socialising or relaxation beneath a striking 600-bulb chandelier.

On the opening, Luca de Stefano, General Manager, InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace, commented: “It is with great pleasure that we open the doors to InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace.”

“Our passion for luxury hospitality and attention to detail is second to none and we are looking forward to welcoming guests to our stunning hotel and to experience the wonder of Rome. Rich in history and in unparalleled location, guests can indulge in the timeless elegance of Italian design, savour the flavours of refined Italian cuisine, and create unforgettable memories.”
