Showcasing the interior design talents of Matteo Thun, IntercityHotel Hildesheim has become the latest eye-catching addition to Deutsche Hospitality’s portfolio.

Located next to Hildesheim’s main railway station and close to the city’s historic old quarter, this new IntercityHotel provides a convenient base for both business and leisure travellers.

A new base for exploring Hildesheim

The modern and comfortable upper-midscale IntercityHotel Hildesheim has started welcoming guests into its 150 contemporary rooms, which are complemented by a bistro lounge, bar and three conference rooms. Interior design comes courtesy of award-winning Italian architect Matteo Thun, and all rooms feature air conditioning, a TV service, a desk, a safe, a fridge and free wifi.

Currently, the hotel is exhibiting works by photographer Patrick Pollmeier as part of the Kunsträume (Art Rooms) project, in which the oeuvre of young artists with local links is being displayed at selected hotels operating under the IntercityHotel brand.

The new property provides an inviting place to stay for travellers while visiting this historic city in Lower Saxony . “With its location in the heart of Germany, Hildesheim is an ideal place for IntercityHotel, present at the important economic and tourist destinations,” said Christian Kaschner, managing director of IntercityHotel. “Establishing such a hotel now will ensure that we have a key foundation in place as the business and leisure markets start to recover in the second half of 2021.”

A successful partnership

Hamburg-based B&L Group is behind the development of this new hotel, having been a contractual partner of IntercityHotel for several years.

“Thanks to our collaboration with IntercityHotel, we can now look back on ten successful projects right across Germany,” said Thorsten Testorp, managing partner of the B&L Group. “This is a partnership which has really proved its worth, even given the difficult conditions, which we have been confronted with over recent months. The highly effective concept and the outstanding transport links provide the perfect prerequisite for the future success of the IntercityHotel Hildesheim.”

“Being able to open a hotel in such challenging times is a particular highlight for me,” said Birgit Borchert, director of the IntercityHotel Hildesheim. “Hildesheim is a great location. Its numerous attractions, its cultural scene and, of course, the many companies to which it is home are all a super match for the IntercityHotel guest mix.”

From the hotel, all the city’s sights are easily accessible on foot or by local public transport, which guests have the opportunity to use for free during their stay through the FreeCityTicket scheme.
