IHG Hotels & Resorts is building momentum with its Vignette Collection brand, which was launched in summer 2021. To date the group has opened eleven Vignette properties, and has a further 23 committed to its development pipeline.
The brand brings together a range of luxury and lifestyle properties, aiming to deliver guests a “one-of-a-kind stay” in hotels that range from city centre townhouses, to resorts in a beachfront setting. The brand has uniting values including “A Means for Good”, programme, which partners properties with a local charitable organisation, to ensure local communities benefit from the hotel’s support.
A dozen openings
A dozen properties will launch under the brand during 2024, starting with the Halyard hotel in Liverpool, the first of those. The 133 room hotel, launching the brand in the UK, features industrial style interiors evoking the dockland heritage of the location; it stands on the site of a rope making warehouse that dated from the 18th century. Others on the way include the Shanghai Snow World Hotel in China, the 50 room Verno House in central Budapest, and the resort setting of the Arabella Beach Hotel, between the dunes of the desert and the Arabian Gulf shore, in Kuwait.
Later this year, IHG will welcome the Rumah Luwih Bali to the Vignette Collection. This 75 room hotel is being created from a classical, colonial style Indonesian mansion on a quiet stretch of Bali’s east coast. The location is a great one for guests keen on diving and snorkelling, as well as more strenous watersports such as whit water rafting and surfing.
Growth in Asia
Towards the end of 2024, the Dinso Resort and Villas will join the brand, after completion of development and upgrading work that will convert the former Emerald Resort in Koh Chang, Thailand. The 166 room resort will feature 13 villas, each with their own private pool, as well as a beach club. This will be the third Vignette Collection property to open in Thailand, joining the Dinsor Resort in Phuket, and Sindhorn Midtown hotel in Bangkok.
In China, there will be five Vignette additions. The WM Hotel in Hong Kong has already joined the brand, and there will be additions coming on stream in Heibei, Hangzhou and Guangzhou. The Snow World hotel in Shanghai, which opens in the autumn, is particularly notable as it will have 272 rooms with direct access to the slopes of the world’s most technically advanced indoor snow and ice venues. As a sports and entertainment destination it will have few equals, offering guests a combination of three ski runs, and a winter themed snow play park, all set within a venue with a 60m high roof.
