Holiday Inn Express & Suites Singapore Novena will bring IHG’s country portfolio to 14 hotels across seven brands.

The new hotel will open following the renovation and rebrand of the former Quality Hotel Marlow in the city’s Novena area.

Brand growth

IHG Hotels & Resorts has partnered with Marlow Hotels & Resorts to open Holiday Inn Express & Suites Singapore Novena in 2023 after a transformation of the existing property. On opening, this hotel will join four other Holiday Inn Express properties in Singapore.

The former Quality Hotel Marlow, which is currently closed, will undergo a full renovation this year to bring the brand experience to the hotel.

Serena Lim, vice president of development in Southeast Asia and Korea for IHG, commented: “It is fantastic to work with Marlow Hotels & Resorts on our second property together and we thank them for their continued trust in IHG.”

“We are accelerating our growth in Singapore, having opened Holiday Inn Singapore Little India and voco Orchard Singapore in the past year. This agreement takes us to 14 hotels in the country, covering a wide portfolio of brands that appeal to all types of travellers.”

“It’s another great example of the appetite of owners to join the IHG family as the strength, resilience and attractiveness of our brands continue to shine through as the industry recovers from the pandemic.”

“The Holiday Inn Express brand celebrated its 30th anniversary last year and accounts for more than a third of IHG’s global pipeline. Its simple and smart travel experience provides an avenue for that warm in-person connection that has been so missed over the past two years. We look forward to increasing its brand presence across all of our markets in the region.”

The brand experience

On opening, the hotel will host guests in 231 rooms, including 34 suites designed for families and other groups as well as extended stay guests.

This accommodation will be joined by facilities including The Express Café & Bar, which is to be the first integrated lobby and food and beverage experience of its kind in the region, along with a gym, swimming pool, self-service laundry and more than 500 sq m of meeting space.

Signature brand benefits are then to include complimentary Express Start breakfast, unlimited Wi-Fi and the in-room Express Restful Recharge zone offering power showers, blackout blinds and high-quality bedding with a choice of pillows.

Commenting on the plans, a Marlow Hotels & Resorts spokesperson said: “We made the decision to convert and upgrade our hotel to Holiday Inn Express & Suites Singapore Novena because we believe the brand’s positioning of providing simple, smart travel is ideal for meeting the changing needs of our guests.”

“As borders reopen, we know that travellers will be looking for comfortable, fuss-free stays. The brand’s ‘rest-and-go’ concept is perfect for the Novena area, a commercial and medical hub which is also home to historical sites and local eateries, and will appeal to corporate, medical and leisure travellers to the vicinity.”

“We have a strong relationship with IHG having had a successful partnership in Australia, and are confident our new hotel will benefit from the global appeal of the Holiday Inn Express brand and the power of the IHG system and its loyalty programme.”
