British hotel giant IHG has launched a 438-room property on the northern shore of the IJ, just a short ferry ride from the famous 17th-century canal ring area of Amsterdam.

The new Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam – North Riverside boasts several of the brand’s latest design features, such as a flexible workspace, flat-screen TVs, ergonomically designed chairs and ample USB ports and plug sockets, as well as black-out curtains, power showers, and free high-speed Wi-Fi. We find out more about this significant development.

Putting travellers at ease

Holiday Inn Express properties are designed to deliver a high-quality guest experience, ensuring visitors can rest, relax, recharge and work as required, and this new outpost in Amsterdam is certainly no exception.

A distinctly contemporary property, it features welcoming and comfortable communal spaces, including tables in the lobby with integrated outlets and wireless charging devices. There is also a range of seating styles, providing plenty of choice for guests while waiting for a friend or enjoying a drink or two in the bar, plus an onsite business centre and two meeting rooms that can be linked together.

A prime location in Amsterdam

Located on the northern shore of the IJ in a residential neighbourhood with stunning views of the city’s skyline, the hotel is just 25 minutes’ drive from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport and a ten-minute drive from the Amsterdam Centraal station.

Imre Heijboer, general manager, Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam – North Riverside, said: “Holiday Inn Express Amsterdam – North Riverside gives both business travellers and tourists a refreshingly smart stay that delivers more where it matters most, with all the essentials available at their fingertips. The hotel’s ideal location provides guests with fast connections to central Amsterdam but allows them to enjoy a residential neighbourhood with stunning views of the city’s skyline.”

Holiday Inn Express is IHG’s largest and fastest growing hotel brand globally, with over 250 properties in Europe alone and 71 more due to launch in the next five years. Its impressive development pipeline includes the recently signed Holiday Inn Express Budapest City Centre, which is due to open in late 2020.
