IHG has signed an InterContinental château hotel in Chantilly

Following its recent signing, InterContinental Chantilly - Château Mont Royal is expected to open after a renovation of the historic property in 2024.

This château hotel will become IHG’s third luxury opening in France in the past five years, following on from InterContinental Lyon – Hotel Dieu and Kimpton Paris St Honoré.

Taking over a historic site

IHG Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to renovate and manage the historic Château Mont Royal under its InterContinental brand through a management agreement with Groupe BMF and Groupe PFH. This property is to become a flagship hotel for the brand in France when it opens in 2024.

Fabien Bertini, Founder – Groupe BMF and Simon Pinto, President – Groupe PFH, said in a joint statement: “We are proud to be partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts – a true powerhouse of the hotel industry – to bring to life our vision for InterContinental Chantilly – Château Mont Royal.”

“Together, we’re undertaking one of the most exciting hotel projects in the region and we are confident that IHG’s global scale and enterprise platform will enable us to share the beauty of this hotel with guests from across the world. The InterContinental brand is one of the most iconic in the world, and we’re delighted to be continuing its great tradition here in France.”

A luxury retreat in Chantilly

Built in the early 20th century, Château Mont Royal showcases Louis XVI-style architecture. On opening as InterContinental Chantilly – Château Mont Royal, the property will have two restaurants, a bar, a summer terrace and 11 meeting rooms, as well as wellness facilities including treatment rooms, a sauna, Jacuzzi, swimming pool, tennis court and gym.

The property lies just 20 minutes from Charles de Gaulle Airport and 40km from Paris. The hotel will cater for both leisure and business travellers, with many historic sites also to discover nearby. Chantilly is known for its royal heritage, intricately woven lace and 1840-founded racecourse.

Commenting on the plans, Willemijn Geels, VP Development Europe – IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “In signing InterContinental Chantilly – Château Mont Royal, we are delighted to have brought another luxurious property to our portfolio in France, through which we’ll further enhance the longstanding legacy of the world’s oldest luxury hotel brand.”
