IHG Hotels & Resorts is adding another Thai location to its luxury and lifestyle Vignette Collection brand.

The chain will partner with Dinso Resort Co Ltd to turn the Thai firm’s existing site in Patong into Dinso Resort Phuket, Vignette Collection.

Swift rebrand

Due to complete in mid-2023, the rebrand will see the hotel offering a choice of 148 rooms and suites and 26 treetop pool villas with views of the Patong coast.

Built mainly through the use of wooden materials, the luxury escape is integrated into its hillside surroundings and welcomes guests seeking a tranquil, nature-based getaway. Facilities will include two restaurants and bars, a meeting room of 150 sq m, a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.

Purpose-driven brand

Saowarin Chanprakaisi, director, development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG, said: “It’s fantastic to work with first-time partner Dinso Resort Co Ltd to open our fourth Vignette Collection hotel in Thailand. We see a demand for authentic and experiential experiences, and with the spotlight on environmental and social issues, meaningful and responsible stays. This new collaboration shows confidence in the purpose-driven Vignette Collection brand in the market, which has grown quickly since the successful opening of Sindhorn Midtown, our first Vignette Collection property, in Bangkok earlier this year.

“Situated in the popular destination of Patong, Dinso Resort Phuket, Vignette Collection will add to IHG’s growing presence in Phuket, where we have hotels across four of our world-renowned brands – InterContinental, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Before the pandemic, Phuket attracted over 10 million visitors per year and, after Bangkok, was the most visited destination in Thailand. We look forward to welcoming guests to this beautiful hillside resort.”

Design-led resort

Wanchai Akkaravivat, MD of Dinso Resort Co Ltd, said: “We have always had a strong vision for Dinso Resort – to be a design-led and lifestyle-focused nature resort that’s built carefully, thoughtfully and sustainably. We took our time to develop its barefoot luxury experience coupled with its own distinct character and identity, and when we saw Vignette Collection come to life in Thailand, we knew it was the perfect brand for our property.

“We have found the ideal partner in IHG, have seen their success in launching new brands in new markets, including the InterContinental brand into Phuket, and fully believe in its ability to deliver results while making a positive impact on the Phuket community. As a Vignette Collection hotel, Dinso Resort will offer a one-of-a-kind stay with memorable rituals for every guest and a commitment to support the Phuket community.”

Doubling estate

The sustainability-focused resort will be IHG’s fourth opened or pipeline Vignette Collection property in Thailand, following the launch of its 17th brand last year. With three hotels already open and at least six in its global pipeline across markets including Austria, Portugal and Thailand, Vignette Collection is a collection of luxury hotels in vibrant destinations around the world. One Thai project in the offing is the 234-room Vignette Collection Aquatique Pattaya which will come online in Q1 2024.

IHG has 30 hotels across nine brands in Thailand and a pipeline of nearly 40 properties which are set to open as it grows its luxury and lifestyle portfolio in the country by 50% by 2026, while doubling its estate across all brands.
