IHG expands premium portfolio in India

Set in the Himalayas, the newly built hotel marks the debut of Crowne Plaza brand in the state of Uttarakhand.

Leading hotel company IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of a management agreement with IVY Hotels & Resorts to bring the first Crowne Plaza hotel to Uttarakhand. 

Scheduled to open in April 2028, Crowne Plaza Dehradun Rajpur Road hotel will add 110 keys to IHG’s portfolio in the state and build on IHG’s commitment to expand its portfolio in well-known leisure destinations across India.

Crowne Plaza Dehradun Rajpur Road will be set in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand and a notable leisure destination, academic hub, as well as a fast-growing economic centre.

The hotel will cater to both leisure and business guests, and will feature 110 rooms. It will also offer all-day dining, a specialty restaurant, and a bar and a lobby lounge. 

There will also be a fully equipped fitness center, swimming pool, club lounge, rejuvenating spa, as well as a retail store.

Commenting on the announcement, Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the hotel group is “delighted” to debut their premium Crowne Plaza brand in Dehradun.

“Dehradun has witnessed rapid economic growth due to its strategic location and has emerged as a key destination for the tourism and hospitality sector,” he said. 

“The ideal positioning of Crowne Plaza Dehradun Rajpur Road will ensure access to a thriving market encompassing leisure, corporate, SME, and MICE sectors.”

IHG currently has 46 hotels operating across five brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express, and a strong pipeline of 49 hotels due to open in the next 2-3 years.
