IHG confirms Chennai conversion

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Abu Estate Private Limited for a Holiday Inn in the southeastern Indian city of Chennai.

Holiday Inn Chennai Egmore is set to open in Q1 2025 as a 92-key conversion hotel.

Capitalising on footfall

Centrally located in Chennai, Egmore is an upcoming industrial area with proximity to government offices, high-end residential complexes, a railway station and landmark buildings.

Once opened, Holiday Inn Chennai Egmore will capitalise on the footfall of business and leisure travellers seeking an elevated hospitality experience in the city.

Wide preference range

The hotel will feature modern guestrooms, a health club, an all-day dining restaurant, a bar and a lobby lounge, catering to a wide range of guest preferences.

The property will also showcase banqueting spaces, including a grand ballroom and versatile breakaway rooms, suitable for both large and intimate social gatherings.

Strong demand

Prime location

Indian doubling

IHG currently has 45 hotels operating across five brands in India, including Six Senses, InterContinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Resort and Holiday Inn Express.

It is due to double its national presence with a pipeline numbering another 45 properties due to open in the next three to five years, including a trio in Bengaluru: the 140-key Crowne Plaza Bengaluru Raj Bhavan Road and the 170-room Staybridge Suites Bengaluru Thanisandra, both due for delivery in Q1 2024, and InterContinental Bengaluru Whitefield, bringing 265 keys online in Q1 2025.
