IHG announces multiple signings for UK and Ireland hotels

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed nine new hotels, together encompassing over 1,000 new guest rooms, across five brands in this region.

Properties under the Hotel Indigo, voco hotels, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Staybridge Suites brands will heighten the hospitality group’s presence across these countries.

Growth across the portfolio

Adding to its 350-plus portfolio of hotels in operation across the UK and Ireland, IHG has another 20 hotels in development. These nine new signings span all four market segments of Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium, Essentials and Suites, with properties that will cater for both domestic and international, business and leisure travellers.

Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, commented: “Adding over 1,000 rooms through nine new signings is a great reflection of our investment in the UK&I market, and of the confidence of our owners in IHG, who continue to trust us to develop and open successful hotels with them.”

“Across all four of our brand segments, this growth is also fuelled by continued appetite from domestic and international travellers, and their love for IHG’s family of brands and the experiences we offer. I’m incredibly proud of our team who are committed to growing IHG’s presence in what is our home market, and the biggest across Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa (EMEAA).”

A diversity of openings

In the luxury and lifestyle segment, these signings include 131-key Hotel Indigo Gloucester – The Forum, which is expected to open later this year, in the city’s Forum development. Highlights of this property are to include a neighbourhood restaurant and rooftop cocktail bar.

Across brands in the premium segment, the new signings then include the 57-room voco Salisbury, opening in the second half of 2024; the 120-room voco Belfast marking the brand’s debut in Northern Ireland when it opens this summer; and the 191-room voco Leicester, which was formerly the Hotel Brooklyn Leicester and will reopen with its new identity mid-2024.

Other premium brand signings include the mid-2024-opening central voco Manchester offering 189 rooms for business and leisure stays, and the 78-key voco The Clifton Folkestone, which opens in the second half of the year.

Essentials hotels joining these pipeline properties span the 87-room Holiday Inn Wrexham, marking the first IHG-branded hotel in North Wales when it opens early 2025, and Holiday Inn Express Reading Oxford Road offering 104 rooms in Reading and targeted for 2025 opening. In the Suites segment is the 132-room Staybridge Suites Belfast, which is a part of the Bedford Yard development and expected to open late 2027.
