Hotel Indigo Vienna

IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced the extension of this Multiple Development Agreement seeing the partnership grow to 60 hotels by 2035.

As a part of this agreement, developments are currently planned for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and Italy.

A flourishing partnership

This development agreement focusing on the DACH region, comprising Germany, Austria and Switzerland, is now extending to Italy and Poland.

In 2022, tristar GmbH is to open four Holiday Inn Express hotels as well as a Hotel Indigo in Vienna that will mark the brand’s entry into Austria. Future openings in this agreement will span Luxury & Lifestyle, Premium and Essentials brands.

With the DACH region key to IHG’s growth, Germany is now home to 88 of the group’s hotels, with another 27 in the pipeline, and 17 properties open across Austria and Switzerland with six more on the horizon.

Willemijn Geels, VP Development Europe at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are delighted to announce this long-term partnership with our trusted partner tristar GmbH and bring such a strong collection of hotels to the DACH region.”

“The recent return of travel has been strong in Northern Europe, and we look forward to providing new destinations for guests to discover, bringing our much-loved brands to new locations, and providing the essentials for business travel with these strategic signings. The new signings simply enhance our shared vision for IHG’s successful growth momentum.”

Jochen Weishaupt, chief development officer, tristar GmbH, added: “These new openings and signings are testament to the strong relationship between tristar GmbH and IHG. By bringing recognised, much-loved brands to new locations, we can continue to provide hotels which travellers trust, and return to, time after time.”

“Our target of 60 signings by 2035 is ambitious, but we are inspired by the challenge, and supported in our goals by industry powerhouse IHG Hotels & Resorts.”

Forthcoming hotel debuts

This year, tristar GmbH IHG hotel openings are to include the May-opening Hotel Indigo Vienna – Naschmarkt, the autumn-opening Holiday Inn Express Fuerth, Holiday Inn Express Remscheid and Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf Airport, both of which are expected to open later this year, and the November-2024-opening Holiday Inn Express & Suites Monheim am Rhein.

The 158-key Hotel Indigo Vienna – Naschmarkt, which also marks the brand’s Austria debut, will celebrate the locale’s vibrancy and eclecticism in space encompassing a stylish bar and restaurant.

Located in Germany’s northern Bavaria region and the first IHG-branded hotel in the city, Holiday Inn Express Fuerth will then provide a modern, convenient stay offering easy access to the city’s many sites.

The forthcoming Holiday Inn Express Remscheid will introduce guests to what’s known as ‘The Maritime City on the Mountain’, 20km east of Dusseldorf, with a stay including Holiday Inn Express’ signature essentials such as complimentary breakfasts.

Joining voco Dusseldorf Seestern and Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf – Hauptbahnhof, the 324-room Holiday Inn Express Dusseldorf Airport will add to the group’s presence in this city and stand out as one of the largest Holiday Inn Express hotels in Europe.

The most recently signed property, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Monheim am Rhein, will then connect guests with the picturesque town it’s located within on the Rhine River between Cologne and Dusseldorf. IHG’s first hotel in the city, this property is part of a newly built mixed-use development that is financed and built by the city itself.
