IHCL introduces Vivanta to Rajahmundry

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed its first hotel in Rajahmundry, within the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The greenfield hotel will join the luxury Vivanta brand following the deal with developer Sailaja Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd.

Strategically situated

The 120-key property will be strategically situated a driving distance from the Rajahmundry International airport as well as the satellite and port city of Kakinada.

The hotel will have the signature all day Mynt diner, a bar and recreational facilities including a swimming pool and fitness centre. It will also offer over 550 sq m of banqueting space including meeting rooms.

Emerging market growth

Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president – real estate and development, IHCL said: “This signing is in line with IHCL’s strategy of strengthening its presence in India’s emerging markets. Rajahmundry is home to large industries and is close to India’s largest offshore gas fields. It is also one of the largest bullion centres in India. We are delighted to partner with Sailaja Hotels and Resorts Pvt Ltd for a Vivanta hotel in the city.”

Vivanta expansion

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have six hotels across the Taj, Vivanta, SeleQtions and Ginger brands throughout Andhra Pradesh including two under development.

Elsewhere in southern India, the group is planning further additions to the Vivanta portfolio. These include the 80-key Vivanta Hampi, due to arrive in 2024; the 100-room Vivanta Manipal, scheduled for Q4 2024; and Vivanta by Taj Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, delivering 450 keys in 2025.
