Hyatt Regency takes root in Shanghai

by | 13 Jun 2021 | Hotel Projects, Projects

A Hyatt Regency property with 256 keys and a prime lakefront location has launched in the historic Songjiang district, known locally as the ‘Root of Shanghai’.

The long-awaited Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang provides guests with a rejuvenating hospitality experience, as well as convenient access to nearby businesses, universities and attractions.

Shanghai’s cultural melting pot

Hyatt Regency’s latest Chinese offering is located in the Songjiang neighbourhood, dubbed the ‘Root of Shanghai’ because of its reputation as a melting pot of four different cultures dating back over 6,000 years. The hotel should appeal to both leisure and business travellers thanks to its proximity to Wulong Lake, Guangfulin Ancient Relics Park, Chenshan Botanical Gardens, the Ecology Business District and no fewer than seven universities.

Frank Chen, general manager of Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang, said: “We are excited to bring the Hyatt Regency brand’s signature intuitive service and seamless stays to guests in Songjiang. Guests can discover Hyatt’s globally renowned gourmet food and beverage experiences at four signature restaurants and lounges, inspiring spaces to meet and connect, and extensive recreational facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools for a refreshing and stress-free experience.”

Inspired by nature

The property incorporates 256 well-appointed guestrooms – including 18 suites – whose interior design is inspired by nature, and uses wood and soft grey upholstery to create a calm and productive ambience. This aesthetic is reinforced by the stunning views of Wulong Lake that can be enjoyed from the generous floor-to-ceiling windows, the Garden Terraces available in selected rooms, and the terrace of the sixth-floor Regency Club Lounge.

Foodies, meanwhile, will delight in the F&B offerings onsite. Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s ethos when it comes to all things culinary is ‘food thoughtfully sourced, carefully served’, and this philosophy can be experienced at any one of the property’s numerous eateries.

For starters, the Xiang Yue restaurant serves up a range of Chinese dishes and boasts 11 private dining rooms. And the all-day Market Café showcases cuisine from both east and west, while The Lounge and Bar is a relaxing space to enjoy a coffee or a drink.

Corporate guests can take advantage of Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang’s more than 20,000 sq ft of flexible event space; star billing goes to the 14,500 Regency Ballroom, but there are also five multipurpose event rooms. Last but not least, fitness fanatics can burn off some calories at the 2,368 sq ft Fitness Center, featuring cutting-edge equipment and its own yoga studio.
