Hyatt Regency Lanzhou opens next to China’s Yellow River [Construction Report]

The Hyatt Regency Lanzhou has opened with 300 guestrooms and two floors dedicated exclusively to recreation and wellness, becoming the first Hyatt Hotels Corporation property in the capital of Gansu Province.

At 711 ft tall, Hyatt Regency Lanzhou is a major new landmark next to the Yellow River, combining local culture and international style to create a space designed for productivity and peace of mind at the gateway to China’s west region. We take a closer look at this towering hospitality scheme.

A prominent location in bustling Lanzhou

Based in the government and business district, the riverside property provides scenic views of the willow-lined Yellow River, as well as the mountains and the city skyline. It’s close to popular attractions including Lanzhou Waterwheel Expo Park and Zhongshan Bridge, and has excellent transport links to Lanzhou Railway Station, Lanzhou West Railway Station and Zhongchuan International Airport.

Modern and eco-friendly hotel design

The property consists of 300 spacious guestrooms, including 15 suites, employing modern decor features such as floor-to-ceiling windows and relaxing tones of blue and soft grey. The hotel uses eco-friendly systems such as infrared sensors that recognise when guests enter or leave rooms, and smart sunshades that auto-adjust to save power, while providing a comfortable environment. The rooms also boast Nespresso coffee machines and 55-inch LCD television sets.

In terms of gastronomy, Hyatt Regency Lanzhou has three halal restaurants and a lounge where guests can eat and relax. F&B facilities include the all-day Market Café, which offers east-west-themed buffet selections based around seasonal ingredients; Xiang Yue, a modern Chinese restaurant focusing on authentic Gansu and Cantonese cuisines; and YUN – Hot Pot Restaurant, which specialises in personal seafood hotpots geared around premium delicacies and slow-cooked broths. The 16th-floor lounge, meanwhile, serves as a destination for meetings, socialising or relaxing over high teas and other refreshments.

With over 16,145 sq ft of space, the property serves as an ideal venue for meetings, creative events or weddings for up to 200 guests as well. There’s a ballroom, eight multifunction meeting rooms and three VIP lounges, featuring HD hi-speed cameras and 65-inch gesture-control smart screens. The natural light and river views provide an attractive backdrop, and event support is available from experienced hotel event planners.

There are two hotel floors dedicated to recreation and wellbeing, including a 24-hour StayFit gym and an indoor golf room and squash hall, plus an indoor, temperature-controlled swimming pool.
