Hyatt Hotels Corporation has announced the continued U.S. expansion of the Hyatt Regency brand with the recent openings of two new hotels in Texas.

The Hyatt Regency brand now has 13 hotels in Texas following the May opening of both Hyatt Regency Baytown-Houston and Hyatt Regency Conroe in the Houston area.

U.S. expansion

Hyatt Regency Baytown-Houston and Hyatt Regency Conroe are the latest hotels to join the growing Hyatt Regency portfolio in the Americas. Both May-opened properties pair contemporary accommodation of more than 200 guest rooms with regionally inspired dining options and versatile indoor and outdoor event space.

“Houston continues to be a popular travel destination, especially as corporate travel recovers strongly in the U.S, and we are excited by the opening of these two new dynamic Hyatt Regency properties that meet the needs of the modern business traveller in this key business and leisure market,” said Ripton Melhado, senior vice president, field operations, Hyatt.

“Both properties are designed to offer a full range of services and amenities, including the space to work, engage or relax while experiencing the globally renowned service for which the Hyatt Regency brand is known. We’re thrilled to offer guests and World of Hyatt members even more ways to experience the brand.”

These Houston openings come after strong recovery of the business and group travel sectors. The brand is now expected to further expand its U.S. footprint with the August 2023 opening of Hyatt Regency Irvine in California and the planned debut of Hyatt Regency Niagara Falls in the coming years. In addition, Hyatt Regency Coralville in Iowa, Hyatt Regency Hill Country in Texas and Hyatt Regency San Francisco are undergoing extensive renovations.

Two new Texas properties

Of these two Texas openings, Hyatt Regency Baytown-Houston stands out for being the city’s largest and only waterfront hotel located off Fred Hartman suspension bridge. The property is a 20-minute drive from the city of Houston and notable sites including NASA’s Space Center Houston.

The seven-storey hotel is home to 208 guest rooms with views of the Houston Ship Channel, marina or Fred Hartman bridge, alongside amenities including the Anchor & Hearth Woodfired Kitchen for local favourites and classic American dishes, the open-concept lobby bar Bayland Lounge, a fitness centre, outdoor pool and 18,000 sq ft of event space including a ballroom with waterfront terrace.

Hyatt Regency Conroe is then situated within Texas Piney Woods, off I-45 just north of The Woodlands and a 20-minute drive to Lake Conroe. This property houses 250 guest rooms, including 13 suites with flexible workstations.

Guests can dine at the hotel’s lobby bar and lounge, Avenue A, serving locally inspired cocktails and small plates, as well as the full-service restaurant Conroux showcasing Texas Gulf cuisine and paying homage to Vietnamese flavours. The hotel has over 30,000 sq ft of multi-functional meeting and event space, an outdoor pool and 24-hour fitness centre.
