Hyatt opens its first Independent Collection property in Napa Valley

JdV by Hyatt makes its debut in California’s wine country as Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa becomes a part of the growing Independent Collection lifestyle brand.

The 97-key, retro-inspired property is ideally located at the head of the Silverado Trail in this scenic wine region, which is also the inspiration for the hotel’s design.

A growing collection

As a part of the JdV by Hyatt brand collection, Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa is designed to breathe new life into the classic roadside motel experience. The New York-based design firm AvroKo took inspiration from the wine region it’s a part of for space that’s framed by bucolic vineyards.

“Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa demonstrates Hyatt’s commitment to growing the JdV by Hyatt portfolio with one-of-a-kind boutique hotels in key leisure markets to meet the continued demand from our guests and members looking to live in the moment and celebrate the joy of life,” said David Tarr, senior vice president, development, Americas, Hyatt.

“We’re excited to welcome Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa into our World of Hyatt loyalty programme and to offer all travellers a getaway experience that embodies the true spirit of Napa Valley.”

Following this debut, the JdV by Hyatt brand collection encompasses more than 50 independent hotels that are all rooted in the fabric of their neighbourhood.

Reflecting its surroundings

Having recently added 34 new guest rooms to its accommodation offering, Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa now has 97 accommodation options and another five new villa accommodations are due to open in 2024. The rooms here pair thoughtful design incorporating locally sourced furnishings with balconies, terraces and views of the Mayacamas.

The hotel is also home to two natural mineral water pools, a mineral water hot tub and the full-service spa, MoonAcre, which offers its take on Calistoga’s historic mud bath ritual. The property is well-located in an area known for its geothermal hot springs, mineral baths and mud baths.

A highlight of the hotel is its on-site restaurant, Fleetwood, which provides a hyper-local produce-driven dining experience pairing Napa Valley ingredients with Italian and Mediterranean influence. Indoor-outdoor seating for up to 152 people is joined by private dining rooms and the space is enhanced with oversized lawn games and a rotating calendar of events.
