Construction crews marked a major milestone last Friday at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, where Hyatt House DFW Airport officially topped out. The ceremony, held on August 21 at the construction site near the Southgate entrance, was a signal that the extended-stay hotel’s structural framing is complete. The project team expects the hotel to open in the summer of 2027.

The event brought together representatives from Hyatt, DFW Airport, Woodbine Development Corporation, Muckleroy & Falls, and Merriman Anderson Architects. Each company has a specific role in the project. DFW Airport owns the property, Woodbine is developing it, Muckleroy & Falls is building it, MAA designed it, and Hyatt will run it once it opens.

A Long Partnership Continues

DFW Airport, Hyatt, and Woodbine have worked together on hotel projects for decades, and this latest addition builds on that history. Once complete, Hyatt House DFW Airport will sit next to the existing Hyatt Place DFW and join two other Hyatt properties already on the campus, the Hyatt Regency DFW International Airport and the Grand Hyatt DFW. That brings the total number of Hyatt-branded hotels at the airport to four.

Dupree Scovell, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Woodbine, credited the construction team for reaching this stage. Mohamed Charkas, DFW’s Executive Vice President and Chief Development and Infrastructure Officer, said the investment is meant to give travelers more lodging choices while doing business in North Texas. Clint Moyes, Vice President of Operations at Muckleroy & Falls, said the topping out reflects the work of everyone involved in the project so far.

Hotel Offerings and Timeline

The hotel will have 130 suites built in a residential style, each with a kitchen and a separate living area. It will also introduce Hyatt House’s updated guestroom design to the Dallas Fort Worth area for the first time. Planned amenities include:

• Suites with kitchens and separate living areas
• H Bar, serving craft cocktails and small plates
• A complimentary breakfast mix with hot food prepared daily
• Flexible workspaces and communal areas featuring regional artwork
• A 24/7 fitness room and outdoor gathering spaces
• 4,750 square feet of meeting space
• 2,900 square feet of patio space
• Pet-friendly rooms and on-site guest laundry

With the structural framing now finished, the project moves into its next phase of construction. The team has set a target of summer 2027 for completion and opening. As the airport campus continues to add hotel options, this project extends a partnership between DFW Airport, Hyatt, and Woodbine that has spanned multiple hotel developments over the years.
