Hyatt has revealed plans to extend its Hyatt Centric brand portfolio in Europe with the opening of a hotel in St Julian’s, Malta.

The seventh Hyatt Centric hotel in Europe, this property is expected to open early 2024. The hotel will join Hyatt Regency Malta in the heart of the island’s northeast coast resort town.

Making a mark in Malta

A Hyatt affiliate has entered into a franchise agreement with Juel Hospitality Limited, which is a part of the Juel Group, to open the 160-key Hyatt Centric Malta as the second Hyatt-branded property in Malta.

The property will open in the resort town of St Julian’s, which is known for its beaches and nightlife, on Malta’s northeast coast.

Briana Swift, director of development, Hyatt, said: “The Hyatt Centric brand is the go-to brand for today’s modern travellers looking to stay in the heart of the action, and we believe it will appeal to a variety of guests and locals alike who are seeking to explore this year-round leisure destination.

“We’re excited to expand our European brand presence in the lifestyle space and look forward to working with Juel Hospitality to deliver a hotel that captures the distinctive spirit of this lively tourist destination.”

A base for leisure and business

The centrally located hotel will place guests within walking distance of the resort town’s entertainment offering as well as its beaches. This area is also just 20 minutes from the capital city and UNESCO World Heritage Centre, Valletta.

Hyatt Centric Malta will offer amenities including onsite dining options, a rooftop terrace, a fitness centre and an indoor and outdoor pool. For business travellers, the hotel will also have more than 4,300 sq ft of flexible meeting space.

Commenting on the plans for this hotel, Albert Galea, representative of Juel Group, said: “Aligning with Malta’s tourism goals of offering exceptional new lodging options for travellers looking to explore the island’s attractions, we are committed to developing Hyatt Centric Malta with a unique and authentic design that features traditional Maltese elements.”
