HQ Hotels & Resorts, a joint venture between SBE and Wyndham, has revealed its first properties will be in Antigua and Sao Paulo

HQ Hotels & Residences has revealed its first projects, as the new brand promoted jointly by SBE and Wyndham moves from concept to reality.

The brand has signed its first resort, the Hodges Bay Resort and Spa on the island of Antigua. And it has quickly followed up with news of a second property, an urban hotel in central Sao Paulo, Brazil. These projects join a pipeline that already includes HQ Montreux and HQ Detroit.

The Hodges Bay Resort is on the northern coast of Antiqua, and will be transformed to meet the standards of the new brand. The property is based in eight acres of tropical gardens, and alongside a beautiful sandy beach. It has 79 rooms and suites, including rooftop penthouses with private infinity pools, for those seeking luxury and exclusivity. The property was opened in 2019, winning awards for its unique features including a contemporary art collection, and private beach club.

Alongside the hotel are a number of luxury residences with one to three bedrooms, allowing those who are so inclined to own a piece of this part of paradise. By linking the hotel with HQ, a number of upgrades are planned, including new food concepts including Katsuya Beach and Hecho Libre, respectively introducing Japanese and Mexican flavours for guests to enjoy.

“Owners today are looking for turn-key solutions and that’s exactly what HQ Hotels offers, combining sbe’s legendary lifestyle experiences with the unmatched scale and resources of Wyndham, the world’s largest hotel franchisor,” said Geoff Ballotti, CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “It’s a one-of-a-kind offering and one we believe has the potential to dramatically change the luxury lifestyle landscape.”

In Sao Paulo, plans are under way for a 100 room hotel that is expected to open in 2028. Local partner INC Urban Developers is in line to build the property. The development will feature an expansive garden on the ground floor, plus a top floor bar with suspended gardens. A rooftop terrace will be created as a party destination, promising guests and visitors a great view across the city. A restaurant masterminded by master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi will be the standout food concept at the hotel.

“HQ Hotel São Paulo will serve as the premiere accommodation for the modern traveler visiting Brazil’s most important economic centre,” said Sam Nazarian, founder and CEO of SBE. “We look forward to bringing HQ Hotels’ unique and unprecedented blend of culinary excellence, lively nightlife concepts and best-in-class hospitality to this cultural capital.”

HQ has set out a target of opening 50 hotels globally by 2031, of which around half will be in the Americas. The HQ brand will aim to be in the heart of key destination cities, offering a “headquarters” location for guests. By linking with Wyndham via its Registry Collection, the hotels are accessible to a global audience, and also part of the globally renowned Wyndham Rewards loyalty programme.
