Houston hotel returns to Hyatt Regency

An existing hospitality scheme in the Lone Star State’s largest city has reopened as a Hyatt Regency property, having previously traded under the same flag in the early 1980s.

An attractive lakeside property in Houston is coming full circle after deciding to adopt Hyatt Regency branding once more.

A new lease of life

Hyatt Regency Houston West, previously Omni Houston Hotel Westside, has opened its doors on Katy Freeway within Houston’s Energy Corridor. Owned by L+R Hotels and managed by Prism Hotels & Resorts, the 400-key property celebrates the city’s reputation as the world’s oil and gas capital.

The scheme originally operated under the Hyatt Regency banner in the early 1990s and has now returned to the fold.

“We are thrilled to open the doors to Hyatt Regency Houston West and welcome guests, customers, visitors and World of Hyatt members to our Houston hotel,” said Tom Jamison, the hotel’s general manager. “Whether guests are visiting for a short trip or an extended stay, we know Hyatt Regency Houston West is the perfect place to offer a high-touch hotel experience that offers confident service to make guests feel connected and refreshed during their stay.”

Design that reflects the hotel’s surroundings

Showcasing a biophilic design concept, where lush vegetation, landscaping and planting transport the guest to a natural haven, the project also cleverly references Houston’s energy sector, not least through the inclusion of an oilfield mosaic in the lobby.

The hotel boasts three F&B outlets – Café on the Lake, Black Gold Bar and Over the Counter – and there’s a heavy focus on wellbeing, with healthy options available at all of the eateries, plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool. Meanwhile, guests can make use of the 25 meeting rooms and 25,000 sq ft of function space onsite, headlined by the 9,800 sq ft Texas Ballroom.

“With the opening of Hyatt Regency Houston West, our hotel offers guests the opportunity to unwind in our expansive outdoor green space featuring lawn games and a year-round heated swimming pool and whirlpool,” added Jamison. “Whether travelling to Houston for business or leisure, the hotel provides an authentic hospitality experience in the heart of the city.”
