Swiss sanitary products manufacturer Geberit is looking to collaborate with the global design community to help deliver top-class design concepts in every space, says Sales Manager Residential West Edward Aguilar

A leader in the field of sanitary products, the Geberit Group is headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, with a production network encompassing more than 30 production facilities.

On the sidelines of TOPHOTELWORLDTOUR Los Angeles, Geberit’s Sales Manager Residential West Edward Aguilar spoke to TOPHOTELNEWS about the Swiss company’s collaboration with the global design community and growth strategy in North America and beyond.

Opportunity in today’s exciting, unconventional design trends

Aguilar: In my position as sales manager of the west region, I can really see the most exciting projects going on in the pipeline. In San Francisco and LA in California, you’re seeing a lot of different structures, with more unpredictable looks. Less lines, more curves. So it’s very exciting right now in terms of constructions.

In hospitality, we’re seeing a lot of trends in shared spaces. Amenities are being shared with condos — in residential, part residential and also for customers for rental. Geberit plays a big role in the interior of the bathroom design, so we provide that dynamic look.

Aguilar: Customers come in and they have an expectation when you come into the door, into restaurants, and the expectations of cleanliness and detailed design. But we forget sometimes that the bathroom space is an opportunity to compliment that, to continue that design. I’m seeing more designers asking, and owners asking feedback on how can we inspire that space.

Winning over the hospitality design community

Aguilar: We are focusing more with the design community. We’re asking really talented designers to speak on our behalf and how we actually solve problems. We’re being more active in that community so we can inspire developers and owners to build these amazing structures and to include our products.

From Europe to the world: Geberit growing from strength to strength

Aguilar: Geberit is a Swiss company and a well known brand internationally. We noticed our clients that from North America help us open the door to bring us in the forefront in design in the US market. And that’s very exciting for us. Even in movies you can see our products being shown. Geberit is growing the category of wall hung toilets in the US and we’re seeing that trend. We’ve been doing it for over 50 years, so we’re well known to the mechanical community and designers are starting to get familiar with us.
