Holiday Inn Express opens in towering Auckland development

Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre is now open in what’s recognised as the tallest hotel development in New Zealand.

Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre is now open in what’s recognised as the tallest hotel development in New Zealand.

This new Auckland property is the second Holiday Inn Express Hotel in the country and one that offers modern, design-led accommodation in the city’s CBD.

A landmark development

IHG Hotels & Resorts and Pro-invest Hotels partnered on the opening of this new Auckland hotel under the Holiday Inn Express brand. The property is a part of a dual-hotel development also housing the 201-room voco Auckland City Centre, which has also just made its debut.

“We’re delighted to be opening New Zealand’s second Holiday Inn Express property with Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre, offering travellers comfort, convenience and affordability in the heart of the city,” said Shantha de Silva, chief operating officer of Pro-invest Hotels.

“Much thought has been put into every detail of this hotel and we are very proud to have the Holiday Inn Express brand sitting alongside voco Hotel in New Zealand’s first dual branded hotel development.”

“This year has been a year of ‘firsts’ for Pro-invest Hotels and the opening of this hotel tower marks a major milestone for our business. We were the first to bring the voco brand to New Zealand and the first to bring Holiday Inn Express to the country with our Queenstown property.”

“Now, with quarantine free travel returning to New Zealand we look forward to welcoming travellers to Auckland and can’t wait for our guests to experience these new properties.”

Sustainability and convenience

The new Holiday Inn Express Auckland City Centre is set apart by its focus on purposeful and contemporary design creating a relaxed and warm environment.

The hotel’s 294 guest rooms are all fitted with amenities including an efficient work station, high-quality bedding with a choice of pillows, walk-in showers and black-out blinds. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure all rooms have optimum views of the surroundings.

Guests benefit from the brand’s signature complimentary Express Start Breakfast with an Express Start Breakfast Grab & Go option and can head to the hotel’s Great Room for a drink in the evening. The neighbouring voco hotel is home to the Italian restaurant Mozzarella & Co. and the August-opening 38th-floor Bar Albert for rooftop cocktails.

Holiday Inn Express conveniences for business travellers at the property then span fast check-in and unlimited fast WiFi, as well as three meeting rooms accommodating up to 40 people. Additional facilities include a 24-hour reception, fitness room and a self-service laundry.

Through its sustainability initiatives, the property is on track to achieving Green Engage Certification and offers ‘A Greener Stay’ programme giving guests the option to reduce their environmental footprint.
