IHG Hotels & Resorts has marked the opening of Holiday Inn Dandenong in a business and entertainment district of Melbourne’s southeast.

The latest Holiday Inn property to open in Australia brings an exciting new hospitality offering, including Dandelion Lounge + Eatery, to the area.

A new next-generation stay

The brand-new Holiday Inn Dandenong is now hosting its first guests at 50-52 McCrae Street. The 124-key property is owned by Pelligra Group who invested AUD$12m in creating the next-generation hotel home to the brand’s Open Lobby concept, conference rooms and the exciting Dandelion Lounge + Eatery.

Scott Schaefer, General Manager of Holiday Inn Dandenong, said: “Whether you’re spending time away with friends and family, or connecting over business, the hotel provides a warm and welcoming environment at an affordable price point.”

“Light-filled spaces in our Open Lobby invite relaxed dining and meaningful conversations, while the rooms themselves provide a soothing space to recharge. We’re providing a fresh, new destination where guests, local workers and residents can come together for a coffee, a business meeting, or to work remotely – something the local business community is hungry for.”

Matt Tripolone, Managing Director, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Australasia & Pacific, added: “We are thrilled to continue the strong momentum of the Holiday Inn brand in Australasia, especially after a wealth of new signings in diverse city and metropolitan locations across the region.”

“Holiday Inn Dandenong is an exceptional example of the brand’s next generation design as we continue to evolve our offering in IHG Hotels & Resorts’ Essentials collection – from leading open lobby concepts to functional, design-led rooms and culinary offers that complement the diverse community.”

“The opening is a testament to Pelligra Group and our strong partnership together, and we look forward to welcoming guests to the next generation of Holiday Inn.”

Designed for business and leisure

All of the former property’s rooms have been transformed and complemented with 16 newbuild rooms. Accommodation options aimed at business and leisure travellers as well as families now include king suites, the double premium and queen standard. Guests benefit from free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour fitness centre, secure underground parking and 24/7 in-room dining.

In its design, the hotel combines polished concrete with black metal features and oak battens, integrating signature Melburnian design elements into a refreshing space featuring vibrant colours, greenery and curated feature lighting.

A highlight of the hotel is the new addition to this area’s food scene, Dandelion Lounge + Eatery, which serves the Itali-fusion dishes of Executive Chef Atish Chaudhuri, including wood-fired pizza and house-made pasta.

Events are hosted in 154 sq m of function space including the large Dandenong Room, which can be split into two rooms, catering for up to 120 people, along with a light-filled boardroom for smaller meetings. All of this event space features built-in AV facilities, in-room buffets are available and a dance floor can transform the Dandenong Room into a ballroom.
