To reach the milestone, Hilton plans to open approximately 10 hotels each year from now until 2022, adding 30 new properties and 4,500 rooms to its portfolio in Mexico.

Few countries on the planet are as famous for their luxurious hotel experiences as Mexico, a country rich in both culture and beaches, and is easy to reach for tourists from the United States.

Expanding the portfolio in Mexico

This is why most major hotel companies have a sizable stake in Mexico. One of them is Hilton, who recently announced that the company is on track to have 100 hotels in Mexico by the year 2022.

To accomplish this, Hilton plans to open approximately 10 hotels each year between now and 2022, ultimately adding 30 new properties and more than 4,500 rooms to its existing portfolio of 70 hotels in Mexico. The country already features what is one of Hilton’s single largest portfolios.

The first hotels to open as part of this growth spurt include Hotel Lafontaine, the Curio Collection’s debut in Mexico, Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla, another brand launch, and Conrad Playa Mita.

A closer look at Hilton in Mexico

Currently, one can find all seven of Hilton’s brands present in Mexico, as well as 10 separate brands in its development pipeline.

A closer look reveals Hilton is working to further strengthen its portfolio in Mexico by incorporating brands that range from focused-service to all-suites to full-service and luxury.

All new hotels will participate in Hilton Honors, the company’s top-rated guest loyalty program. It provides many benefits to members, including a flexible payment slider which lets them choose combinations of points and money to book a stay, an exclusive discount, free Wi-Fi and access to the Hilton Honors mobile app.

Taking growth past Mexico into LATAM and the Caribbean

A wider look at Hilton’s portfolio also shows that it has 150 hotels and resorts spread throughout 24 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, with another 90 hotels in its pipeline for the region.

“As we continue expanding our robust portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America, our team has strategically focused on growth opportunities in Mexico, as the country continues to welcome a record number of travellers,” said Juan Corvinos, VP of development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton.

“Today, Mexico represents Hilton’s fastest growing destination in the Caribbean and Latin America, and we are excited to continue this momentum with both existing and new partners to bring the Hilton Effect to new destinations across the country and the CALA region.”
