Ambasciatori Venice Mestre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is to make its debut as the brand’s first property in northern Italy in early 2023.

This announcement follows the signing of a franchise agreement with Hotel Ambasciatori Srl to open Ambasciatori Venice Mestre as a part of Hilton’s Tapestry Collection.

Brand entry to northern Italy

On opening in 2023, Ambasciatori Venice Mestre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will join three other operating hotels in Venice, which fall under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hilton Garden Inn brands.

The 83-room hotel will place guests in the Mestre area of Venice, just 800 metres from one of Italy’s busiest train stations, Venezia Mestre. By crossing the lagoon, guests will be able to see major sites including St. Mark’s Basilica and Bridge of Sighs. Attractions in Mestre include the Piazza Ferretto, Museo M9 Mestre and historic Fort Marghera.

Commenting on the signing, Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president of development, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Hilton, said: “Tapestry Collection by Hilton is growing rapidly across Europe and has added its first hotels in Spain, France, Portugal and the UK since its introduction in 2021.”

“This exciting addition in Venice demonstrates our commitment to developing destinations across Italy, with seven new hotels slated to join Hilton’s portfolio in the next 12 months.”

“Venice is a city steeped in culture and history that sees more than 13 million visitors per year and Ambasciatori Venice Mestre, Tapestry Collection by Hilton will add a stunning new hotel to our growing Tapestry Collection.”

A historic renovation

The brand’s new property will open following a complete renovation with design drawing on the local history and proximity to the lagoon.

Guests can expect upscale guest rooms, along with a restaurant, bar, fitness facilities and meeting rooms. The hotel has historically been popular among Italian movie and TV stars. The redesign will celebrate this glamorous past through comfortable interiors pairing natural tones with touches of rusts, washed blues, dark yellows and browns.

The hotel will introduce people to the most populated area of Venice, Mestre, which in recent decades has seen significant development, becoming a key area for business and attracting many artists. Plans are currently underway to make Marghera Port Venice’s primary tourist port.

“Mestre is a well-connected and popular area for tourists, situated just 10 minutes across the lagoon from Centro Storico di Venezia while also boasting a number of its own museums, galleries and historic landmarks,” said Andrea Chiappa, co-owner of Hotel Ambasciatori Srl.

“Guests will not only be able to enjoy touristic hotspots like Venice’s cultural centre but also the wider attractions of mainland Venice. Inviting guests to see another side of Venice, we are excited to bring Tapestry Collection by Hilton to the Venetian market and look forward to opening next year.”
