Hilton Worldwide is adding a second Conrad site in Singapore as it rebrands IHG Hotels & Resorts’ existing luxury Regent hotel in the city state.

Regent Singapore will now become Conrad Singapore Orchard after a remodelling project taking place in two phases.

Two step programme

The hotel’s meeting spaces and its 10 restaurants and bars, including Manhattan, Basilico and Summer Palace, are poised to welcome guests from 1 January 2023.

Following extensive room refurbishments, the hotel is scheduled to open fully in Q1 2024 on Singapore’s famed Orchard Road. Conrad Singapore Orchard will feature 440 guestrooms starting from 36 sq m. The hotel will also offer a fitness centre and over 1,600 sq m of event spaces.

Resilient market

Clarence Tan, senior vice president, development, Asia Pacific, Hilton said: “Singapore is one of the world’s leading travel destinations, and a priority market for Hilton. We are excited to build on our shared success with Pontiac Land Group and Kajima Development to expand our award-winning Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand here.

“As the fastest growing hospitality company in Asia Pacific, Hilton is focused on delivering best-in-class owner returns, and we are confident of doing so in a market that has been exceptionally resilient in the face of a pandemic and continues to outperform in business and leisure travel alike.”

Elevated design

The group’s senior vice president and global category head, luxury brands, Dino Michael, added: “The launch of the second Conrad in Singapore signifies an exciting new portfolio expansion in one of the world’s leading cities in the Asia Pacific region.

“Following its renovation, the reimagined property will unveil another elevated, hallmark design and seamless connection between impactful experiences and purposeful service to inspire even the most discerning luxury traveller.”

Luxury hallmark

David Tsang, CEO, Pontiac Land Group, commented: “Following more than two decades of strong partnership through Conrad Centennial Singapore, we are delighted to expand our relationship with Hilton through the new Conrad Singapore Orchard.

“The hotel has always been a hallmark of luxury hospitality and we are confident the hotel’s distinct dining concepts, refreshed design aesthetics and world-class service will be further elevated through the Conrad brand and its globally recognised luxury standards.”

Asian expansion

The announcement of Conrad Singapore Orchard comes on the back of two recent signings that will see the Conrad Hotels & Resorts brand debut in the major cities of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Nagoya, Japan. Conrad Kuala Lumpur, slated to open next year, will mark the brand’s debut in Malaysia, while Conrad Nagoya – the city’s first – will open in 2026.

Hilton currently operates more than 30 properties in the Asia Pacific region, with several planned for the pipeline, across its luxury brands – Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts and LXR Hotels & Resorts. Sites include Waldorf Astoria Hotel Xian and Conrad Hotel Nantong in China and a refurbishment of LXR Hotel Uluwatu in South Kuta, Indonesia.
