The signing of the Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim hotel, which will be part of the Taksim 360 urban renewal project, marks the brand’s debut in Türkiye.

The development agreement with Çalık Holding means that Hilton has now reached its 100th trading or pipeline hotel in Türkiye.

Initial Canopy

Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim is expected to open in 2023 and will also signal the debut of the Canopy boutique lifestyle brand in the country.

Tugrul Temel, managing director, development, Türkiye, Hilton said: “I’m delighted and proud to announce this special milestone for Hilton which sees us reach 100 hotels in Türkiye. Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim will bring great energy to a dynamic area of Istanbul and is an exciting way for us to mark this moment.”

Armin Zerunyan, country general manager, Türkiye, Hilton, added, “One hundred hotels is a wonderful achievement for Hilton and demonstrates our long and fruitful relationship with Türkiye, which is where Hilton first established its international footprint over 65 years ago. We have built a strong presence in this welcoming country over recent decades and are proud of the unmatched legacy that Hilton has established here.”

Distinct personality

Situated next to Taksim Square and Istiklal Street, the easily accessible hotel will be in close proximity to Nisantasi, Karakoy and Bosphorus, and typifies the mission of the Canopy brand to offer hotels that are rooted in the most desirable neighbourhoods of cities around the world.

The 110-room property will be enriched with one-of-a-kind design features that will give the hotel distinct personality and charm. A meeting room and a boardroom cater for business travellers, while three F&B outlets, a destination bar and a Canopy Central concept – which acts as the hub of the hotel – are aimed at guests on holiday.

Phil Cordell, global category head, Lifestyle and global brand head, Canopy by Hilton, said: “We are thrilled to debut the Canopy by Hilton brand in Türkiye, specifically in the heart of Taksim Square as this vibrant district is the ideal location with much to see and do for visitors. Each Canopy by Hilton is designed as a natural extension of its community, and we look forward to inviting guests to enjoy the hotel’s unique design and authentic food and beverage experiences as they relax and recharge following a day of exploring the local hotspots.”
