Hilton Worldwide has struck a deal to create the city’s first Hilton Garden Inn hotel, which will be designed by Rothelowman, as the hospitality giant continues to grow its Australian footprint.

The ultra-competitive Sydney market will soon be bolstered by the arrival of another global hotel brand.

A milestone for Hilton Garden Inn

Hilton Worldwide has signed a deal to open a new property, Hilton Garden Inn Sydney Kingswood, within the Nepean Health Hub in early 2023. Created in partnership with Boston Global, the 140-key scheme becomes the sixth Hilton Garden Inn hotel in its pipeline for Australasia – and the very first in Sydney.

“As we prepare to launch our award-winning Hilton Garden Inn brand in Australia with the opening of Hilton Garden Inn Albany in Western Australia in late 2021, we are pleased to be expanding the brand’s presence into Sydney as we look to achieve our ambition to double our footprint in Australasia in the next five years,” said Guy Phillips, senior vice president of development in Asia and Australasia for Hilton.

“Hilton is thrilled to partner with Boston Global on Hilton Garden Inn Sydney Kingswood and looks forward to forging an enduring relationship. The hotel’s location in the heart of the growing economic powerhouse of western Sydney, already Australia’s third-largest economy, will cater to both domestic and international leisure and business visitors travelling to this metropolis.”

A strategic location

On opening, this new property will place guests only 16 km away from the new Western Sydney International Airport at Badgerys Creek, which is expected to accept its first arrivals in 2026, and 64 km from Sydney International Airport.

The hotel will be located within one of Sydney’s largest health precincts, Nepean Health Hub, which is currently undergoing an AU$1 billion (US$735 million) redevelopment. In this location, it’ll provide easy access to Western Sydney University, Penrith’s key attractions and the foothills of the Blue Mountains.

The property’s upscale and affordable accommodation will be joined by amenities like a full-service restaurant and bar, meeting space, fitness room, rooftop bar and 24-hour grab-and-go store.

Corey Cooney, group managing director of Boston Global, said: “Boston Global and its investors are delighted to partner with Hilton for the strength and recognition of their best-in-class brands. This project will bring their Hilton Garden Inn brand to Sydney for the first time, and the new hotel designed by Rothelowman will include high-quality facilities to meet community needs, including wellness and food and beverage options. The project is due to complete in the first quarter of 2023.”

“With over 40 hotels in Asia Pacific and more than 100 hotels in the pipeline, our goal is to be everywhere in the region that travellers want to be,” added Jenny Milos, vice president, Focused Service & All Suites Brand Management, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “The coming years will be an exciting time of growth for western Sydney, and Hilton Garden Inn Sydney Kingswood will allow visitors to experience the Hilton Garden Inn brand’s positive, upbeat service and value-added amenities.”
