Virginia-headquartered hospitality giant Hilton Worldwide is celebrating the launch of an 18-storey, 208-key hotel in the fashionable Gangnam district of Seoul.

Famed for its glamorous malls – and for inspiring musician Psy’s dance megahit – the Gangnam district in the South Korean capital is now also home to the country’s first Hilton Garden Inn property.

Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam, owned by Joon Tower and managed by Hilton Worldwide, aims to appeal to both business and leisure travellers alike. The scheme boasts crisp, elegant common and private areas, and acts as the ideal base for guests to attend nearby conferences, or indulge in some sightseeing.

Lee Hong-ki, general manager of Hilton Garden Inn Seoul Gangnam, said: “I’m delighted to successfully open Hilton’s first Hilton Garden Inn in South Korea today. I would like to thank the owning company for their great support and my team for their outstanding commitment, hard work and enthusiasm in the lead-up to this opening.”

Meanwhile, corporate travellers can avail themselves of the fully kitted-out business centre and three flexible meeting rooms, which are capable of holding up to 100 attendees in total.

Jenny Milos, vice president of Focused Service and All Suites Brands for Asia Pacific at Hilton, said: “With more than 900 hotels in 50 countries and territories around the world, Hilton Garden Inn has one of our largest number of hotels within the Hilton portfolio.
