Hilton Garden Inn becomes Faroe Islands’ first internationally branded hotel

The opening of Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands introduces a stylish new hotel with sustainability at its core to one of Europe’s most remote destinations.

At a time when isolated getaways are on the rise, Hilton Worldwide couldn’t have picked a better moment to open its newest property – on the far-flung Faroe Islands.

Upscale yet affordable

Marooned somewhere between Iceland and Norway, the Faroe Islands – part of the Kingdom of Denmark – comprises an archipelago of 18 isles best-known for their scenic landscapes of rugged mountains, grassy heathlands and steep coastal cliffs. The new Hilton Garden Inn Faroe is located in its charming capital and largest city, Tórshavn, five minutes from the beautiful Svartafoss Waterfall, Nordic House and the National Museum.

Inside, 130 guestrooms – many with scenic island views – sit alongside a variety of onsite F&B options, including The Shop, a 24-hour on-the-go offering with an assortment of savoury snacks, beverages and ready-to-cook meals; and Hallartún, a French bistro restaurant from chef Jakup Sumberg, renowned for creating dishes from the abundance of local and seasonal produce that the islands have to offer.

Elsewhere, the hotel’s wellness offering – one of the islands’ first – features a sauna, outdoor jacuzzi and 24-hour fitness centre, while the five flexible meeting rooms have enough space to host up to 250 people.

Sustainability at its core

Indeed, with the group’s ‘Travel with Purpose 2030 Goals’ in mind, sustainability is at the core of Hilton Garden Inn Faroe Islands. Some examples include a heating system that uses energy from a local power plant, which captures leftover energy from a range of sectors, including the salmon industry; water-saving showers and motion-sensor taps; LED lights and intelligent lighting; and meat, fish and vegetables sourced from local suppliers.
