Hampton Inn by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton have opened schemes in Indiana’s state capital, with the main seven-storey building sitting alongside a beautiful 19th-century church.

This double launch signifies the continued expansion of Hilton Worldwide’s multi-brand concept, which promises to provide travellers with better communal areas and amenities than can typically be found in standalone projects.

Transformation of a heritage site

Opened on 30 December 2021, Hampton Inn by Hilton Indianapolis Canal IUPUI and Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Canal IUPUI are now inviting visitors into their combined 231 guestrooms and suites, plus 11,000 sq ft of event space.

Constructed on the historic site of Bethel AME Church, the newly launched property is located across from Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) on the Indianapolis Canal Walk. The seven-storey main building has been cleverly designed around the three-storey, 1869-built church, which was added to the National Register in 1991.

“We’re delighted to open Hampton Inn by Hilton and Homewood Suites by Hilton Indianapolis Canal IUPUI and offer business and leisure travellers visiting Indianapolis with an innovative and value-driven lodging experience,” said Ashley Ramirez, general manager. “Blending these two category-leading brands and their signature, yet distinct, identities under one roof further propels our commitment to providing quality lodging options to meet a wide variety of styles, travel needs and desired price points.”

A wealth of shared amenities

The dual-branded property has an array of shared amenities, including an outdoor rooftop patio, Starbucks café and McAlister’s Deli, scheduled to open in 2022. Other noteworthy facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre, an indoor pool, and two outdoor patios with fire pits and a grill for guest use.

The scheme, which has been developed and is managed by Sun Development & Management Corporation, is home to 123 Hampton Inn by Hilton guestrooms and 108 Homewood Suites rooms and suites in total.

Its location within the Canal and White River State Park Cultural District provides guests with easy access to IUPUI, the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium.
