A new, dual branded hotel development in Georgetown signals Hilton's arrival in the new hotel market of Guyana.

Hilton Hotels has added another country to its global presence, signing to open a dual branded project in Guyana where its Hilton and DoubleTree brands will launch.

The new build project in the country’s capital, Georgetown, will be developed by an affiliate of Assets Group, a Qatari based investor with a significant hospitality division. Assets Group has an established relationship with Hilton, having developed projects including the Waldorf Astoria Ithafushi in the Maldives, LXR in Katara Hills, AlRayyan Hotel, Curio Collection in Doha, and DoubleTree in Muscat Qurum.

Building a CALA presence

For Hilton, the group’s arrival in Guyana will add to a fast growing presence in the Caribbean and Latin America, a region where Hilton has tripled in size over the last decade. Hilton has more than 225 hotels open across the region, plus a further pipeline of more than 170 properties destined to open within the next half dozen years. The Hilton and DoubleTree in Georgetown are expected to be ready for opening in 2027.

Hilton Georgetown will have 253 rooms within a new eleven storey block, with guests enjoying amenities including a lobby bar, and outdoor pool. And right next to it will be the 158 room DoubleTree Suites. The project will also include a conference centre with large ballroom and meeting rooms, aiming to form a new destination in Georgetown for meetings, conferences and events.

In addition, Hilton will manage a members social club to be built alongside the hotels. This will include a health and fitness club, wellness centre, coworking space and library, and will be open to both members and visiting hotel guests.

Further openings in the region

The upcoming pipeline includes the Bermudiana Beach Resort, which will join Hilton’s Tapestry Collection on opening. The 111 room resort occupies a clifftop position on the island, and will have a guest funicular for travelling down to the beach beneath. And in Paraguay, work is under way on the Hilton Garden Inn in Ascuncion. Located in one of the city’s upcoming new districts, the 230 room hotel will feature three restaurants, a spa and treatment rooms, and a substantial outdoor swimming pool.
