The new Arte-Hotel Salzburg, located directly by the main train station, was delayed by years due to frequent debates by residents.

Viennese hotelier Alexander Ipp adds milestone to his small group of Arte-Hotels by launching the brand’s fifth property, this time in Salzburg

One of Salzburg’s most controversial construction projects was officially opened in early June.

Today, the Perron complex accommodates not only the Arte-Hotel and the Salzburger Sparkasse, but also 11 residential units and retail spaces.

Giving Salzburg a new “place to be”

Open at last: Viennese hotelier A. Ipp (first from right) with this team at the hotel’s long-awaited opening ceremony.

In the presence of numerous celebrities from all over Austria, the fifth Arte-Hotel was officially opened. Hotelier Alexander Ipp proved to be in good shape as he led guests around the group’s new flagship property which is housed in a 53-meter tower.

The 120-key Arte-Hotel in Salzburg has seven room categories including its “original double rooms” and “extended Arte-studios” which offer more space and elaborate facilities.

Room rates vary depending both on the room’s size as well as which floor guests choose. With Salzburg being such a picturesque city, it’s unsurprising that higher floors with better views come at a steeper price.

Successful end to a challenging project

The Perron business and hotel complex, home to the new Arte-Hotel Salzburg and located directly by Salzburg’s main station, was the subject of frequent debates since residents successfully delayed its completion for years.

The project planning phase alone took five years, construction itself only lasted for four years under Kufstein-based construction company Bodner.

Costs for the hotel’s construction alone came to €28 million ($31.37 million). This is a third more than in conventional buildings of this kind, because the special Salzburg subsoil required elaborate stabilisation work, thus making the project more expensive.
