Group focus: TFE Hotels win big during 2019 hotel awards season

Australia-based TFE Hotels were nominated for and recognised with awards for innovative design, excellent service and overall performance.
TFE Hotels looks back on 2019 which was marked by numerous awards for the Australia-based group’s international network.
TFE wins big
TripAdvisor was first to recognise TFE Hotels in 2019 with 44 Certificates of Excellence. 21 properties were honoured for five years of consecutive high achievement and were welcomed into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame.
Three hotels from the TFE Hotels Collection received awards, 29 certificates went to the Adina Apartment & Hotels portfolio, five went to Travelodge Hotels, four to Vibe Hotels and three to Rendezvous.
TFE Hotels were nominated for 35 of the 2019 HM Awards including the Best Boutique Property for Brisbane’s Gambaro Hotel and Best Business Hotel for Vibe North Sydney.
Adina Hotels and Travelodge Hotels made it to the final round for the Best Hotel Brand of the Year award and The Calile was a finalist for the Australasian Hotel of the Year.
The Calile Brisbane – TFE’s 2019 winner
The Calile Brisbane got by far the most nominations including Oceania’s Leading Hotel 2019 at the World Travel Awards and Hotel and Accommodation Development of the Year at The Urban Developer Award.
The hotel’s Greek restaurants partner Hellenika won Best Restaurant of the Year, Best Service and The Australian Newspaper’s 50 Hottest Restaurants in the country.
As Australia’s first urban resort, the Calile Brisbane also won Best New Business Hotel and Best New Venue for A Business Meeting in the Qantas Travel Awards, Best New Hotel and Highly Commended for interior design in the HM Awards and Best New Hotel in Australia in Conde Nast’s annual hot list.
Designed by Richards & Spence, the property also got the coveted ‘Development of the Year’ gong at the HICAP Awards, Best Restaurant Design for Hellenika at the Gourmet Traveller Awards; and was highly commended in the 2019 Think Brick Awards.
Furthermore, the Calile received a nomination for Best Hotel in the Eat Drink Design Awards 2019 alongside Brisbane’s Black Hide Steakhouse (Gambaro Hotel) and Sydney’s Green Moustache (Vibe North Sydney).
Other notable properties in TFE’s Australian portfolio
Adina Apartment Hotels Bondi Beach won the HM Awards’ Serviced Apartment category for the third time in a row.
A TFE Collection Hotel, Canberra’s Hotel Kurrajong received a Diner’s Choice Award for Chifley’s Bar and Grill.
The property was also recognised as the Best 4-4.5 Wedding Venue in Canberra at the Bride’s Choice Award. On-side wedding planner Jessica Dunn was honoured with the Best Wedding Planner gong.
The Adina-Vibe Darwin in the Northern Territory picked up an Expert’s Choice award and Rendezvous Perth Scarborough was highly commended for their commitment to CSR and community service at the 2019 HM Awards.
On the other side of the world, the So!APART awards nominated both the Adina Frankfurt Westend and Adina Hamburg Speicherstadt this year.
