A picturesque canal runs through the middle of the brand-new Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak, which also benefits from an abundance of palm trees and tropical gardens..

This 195-key property sits on a secluded stretch of the Andaman Coast in Thailand’s Phang Nga province.

Southern Thai inspiration

In this village-like setting, which is home to 195 guestrooms and suites along with an array of culinary, wellness and family-friendly amenities, southern Thai culture is cleverly brought to life. Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak, affiliated with one of Accor’s most prestigious hotel brands, aims to give travellers a unique and tranquil beach getaway experience.

“Around the world, Grand Mercure revisits the singularity of each destination with a fresh cultural perspective,” said Garth Simmons, chief executive officer of Accor in Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea. “We’re really pleased to be strengthening our presence in southern Thailand with this beautiful new address that is deeply rooted to Thai culture through its design, dining and experiential offerings.

“Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak will appeal to travellers looking for an authentic experience that captures the spirit and culture of the Phang Nga province, which also encourages exploration.”

All rooms and suites at the property come with terraces commanding views over the canal, swimming pool and resort gardens.

A diverse resort experience

Guests can dine at the all-day dining restaurant, Patio, offering Asian and international dishes from live cooking stations, or opt for the beachside restaurant, Green Mango, specialising in southern Thai cuisine. Drinks and light snacks are also available at The Soak Pool Bar.

Time here can be spent unwinding by the two swimming pools, working out in the fitness centre and later retreating to Pran Spa for results-oriented treatments using locally produced natural ingredients. Families, meanwhile, are catered for with a Kids’ Corner and kids’ pool.

In a nod to corporate travellers, the property features a Business Corner, offering computers and other services, as well as a 260 sq m meeting room accommodating up to 100 guests.

This site is less than a two-hour drive from Phuket International Airport and the ideal setting for exploring Khao Lak’s renowned beaches, along with nearby sights such as the Elephant Rehabilitation and Retirement Home, Takua Pa Old Town and Khao Lak Lam Ru National Park.

“Khao Lak is one of Thailand’s most tranquil destinations and our team is incredibly excited to finally open our doors,” said Thomas Reupke, general manager of Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak. “Grand Mercure Khao Lak Bangsak offers a fresh cultural perspective that encourages guests to immerse themselves in southern Thai culture.

“The resort’s unique dining, recreational and wellness offerings have been tailored to celebrate the local way of life, whilst offering a sophisticated experience through authentic design and multisensory experiences. The resort is the perfect springboard to explore the pristine Andaman coastline and we are extremely excited to welcome guests to experience our interpretation of the vibrant culture for which Thailand is renowned.”
