Hotel Equities and Marriott International are celebrating the opening of a property next to the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, one of the best tennis facilities in the US.

A new offering under Marriott International’s Fairfield Inn & Suites brand looks set to boost the hospitality scene in Rome, Georgia.

Serving up contemporary accommodation in Rome

Located beside the mammoth Rome Tennis Center, the recently opened property will provide employment opportunities as well as much-needed accommodation for the surrounding area. A dearth of accommodation in the city itself meant many visitors had previously opted to stay elsewhere, but now Fairfield Inn & Suites Rome has landed, it’s hoped guests will increasingly decide to keep it local.

The hotel is managed by Atlanta-based ownership, management and development firm Hotel Equities, which also provided development services throughout the realisation of the project. The property is located next to the vast Rome Tennis Center at Berry College, and Berry College is both the hotel’s owner and developer.

Fairfield Inn & Suites was perhaps the natural choice for Berry College, an academic institution whose values and history align closely with this well-known hospitality brand. Tradition meets modernity in the carefully curated selection of artworks depicting Berry College’s story, which guests can learn about in more detail by scanning QR codes on their mobile devices.

“It was a pleasure to work with Berry College and all the project partners involved to bring this new Fairfield to completion,” said Patrick Trainor, VP of projects & facilities for Hotel Equities. “We were able to maximise flow and function of all spaces, successfully implementing cost controls and procurement expertise. I’m proud to officially open the doors in a timely manner and within budget expectations.”

Championing community

Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Rome is not just being run as a commercial operation – it’s also intended to help the student community. All of the hotel’s revenues will go towards supporting student scholarships at Berry College, while the scheme will provide employment opportunities for those studying here too.

Berry College president Steve Briggs said: “The hotel project is consistent with the college’s focus on providing special opportunities for students to combine learning and work, while also creating new revenue streams that contribute both to our educational mission and the economic vitality of Rome.”

Of course, the biggest draw of the hotel is its proximity to the legendary Rome Tennis Center, which bears the distinction of being named a United States Tennis Association ‘Outstanding Tennis Facility’. One of the hotel’s highlights is the Baseline Bar, where visitors can keep up with events on court while grabbing a quick bite to eat.
