Fritz Hansen Design Creates New Nordic Ambience for Odeon Hotel

The Odeon Hotel introduced Fritz Hansen pieces to create a look that would still feel modern and arouse the curiosity of the guests in 10 years’ time. The Odeon Hotel introduced Fritz Hansen pieces to create a look that would still feel modern and arouse the curiosity of the guests in 10 years’ time. Embracing the poetry of Arne Jacobsen’s organic forms and selecting natural materials and soft tones encapsulated the hotel’s Scandinavian identity.

Located in the city of Odense in the geographic centre of Denmark, Hotel Odeon sought to create the perfect fusion of global and Scandinavian décor. The Hotel embraces the Nordic aesthetic, with a colour palette in soft tones, a deep appreciation of craftsmanship and elegant Danish furniture design.

“The perception of luxury has changed from large crystal chandeliers to curated running routes in local areas, dining at community tables, present staff and personal décor,” says Pernille Arlien Søborg Henriksen, Owner of Co.designstudio, and Architect behind the project.

The Language of Nordic Design

Much attention was given to materials and colours at Hotel Odeon. From coarse woven fabrics and slightly transparent curtains to the light wood and stone. The soft beige and grey neutral tones, as seen on the inviting AlphabetTM sofas in the lounge area, match the characteristic Nordic light.

The tactile theme of the ground floor is reflected in every room to give guests a holistic hospitality experience. Suites are modelled and styled with a sensitivity for shape and material. For example, Arne Jacobsen’s iconic Swan™ chairs, Series 7™ and Grand Prix™ chairs create a sculptural space, and the timeless silhouette of Caravaggio wall lamps by bedsides reflects the Nordic concept. At the same time, other rooms enjoy a similar feel with the gentle curves of the Fri™ lounge chairs in this comfort-centric environment.

According to the interior designers, Fritz Hansen’s design language expressed exactly what the hotel wished to convey. It allowed them to introduce a sense of timeless style with beautifully crafted furniture that expresses an incredible feeling of freshness and relevance over time.
