Frankfurt’s it-crowd take over East End in ‘Hotel Heist’ party at Germany’s hottest new hotel, Moxy Frankfurt East

Frankfurt’s party crowd descended on the city’s East End to celebrate the launch of the most disruptive, fun and stylish new hotel location, Moxy Frankfurt East. Inspired by the financial capital’s heritage, the night saw the Moxy Mob moving in under cover of darkness to play cops and robbers – giving permission to more than 300 fun-hunting guests and VIPs to ‘Play On’ #atthemoxy.

The access-all-areas opening event brought out the dynamic character of Frankfurt’s East End through a series of Moxy-mob inspired ‘playrooms’ where guests were encouraged to leave their inhibitions at the door and indulge their rebellious side. The wild and imaginative Moxy programming ranged from a top-secret immersive theatre experience by local act Reverso and Explora, to a celebrity scandal mug-shot room, and full-blown pillow fights. Additionally, local tattoo parlour Inktastic was on hand for guests wishing to show their ultimate dedication to the Moxy Mob.

“Checking into Moxy Frankfurt East also means checking in into the vibrant life of Frankfurt’s East End,” said John Licence, VP Premium and Select Brands, Europe at Marriott International. “The dynamism and spirit of the neighbourhood was brought to life in a way that was quintessentially Moxy, creating an unforgettable opening event that broke all the rules.”

Local DJ Alex Horn got the party started with his Elektro and Deep-house beats whilst headliner DJ Atlanta de Cadenet Taylor kept guests including Elliott Crawford and Carl Cunard dancing into the early hours. Local food truck purveyors Goose and Von Erdapfel kept partygoers fuelled throughout the night on specialities including sweet and savoury waffles with indulgent toppings such as truffle-pumpkin mash and peanut-butter-cheesecake cream, as well as BBQ pulled pork and ‘Bollywood’ home-made fries.

Drinks also had a local vibe with Appelwoi, a German cider, from Bembel with Care, and a mixologist from one of Frankfurt’s hippest bars, Kinly’s, on-hand for special requests.

The Moxy Frankfurt East opening party was also the occasion to present the winner of the latest edition of #BlankCanvas, the brand’s global initiative that calls on international emerging artists to submit works for the chance to feature their art at new Moxy Hotels. The piece by winner Tobias Kremmel, alias Edward Langlais, took inspiration from the essence of Frankfurt East as well as the spirit of Moxy, with nods to apple wine; Goethe, the famous poet who significantly shaped Frankfurt and its society; and the sense of playfulness and fun.

Moxy’s fun, inclusive and youthful spirit is reflected in the combination of bold design and affordable style where communal engagement is at the center of the experience. The interiors fuse refined and raw materials, organic and linear lines, and shared spaces.

“Moxy is like that friend you can always rely on for a good time,” said Vicki Poulos, Senior Global Brand Director, Moxy Hotels. “When you walk into a Moxy you can’t help but be intoxicated by the way it allows you to indulge your playful side and have a little fun. Friendly welcomes, thoughtful touches and inviting social spaces are the marks of Moxy hospitality as we aim to give guests everything they need and nothing they don’t.”

The Moxy Frankfurt East experience kicks-off with a bright, airy and buzzing lobby. The bar is full-service and the hub of activity in the lobby also doubles as the hotel’s physical check-in, where guests are greeted with a complimentary ‘Got Moxy’ cocktail upon arrival to get the party started. For those looking for a more chill vibe, the lobby’s modern furniture invites guests to relax, pick up a book from the Moxy library, connect and catch up with friends or retreat to the gym to re-energise by punching the pink Moxy punching bag.

The Living Room is another center of activity, giving guests fun ways to work and play hard. Sealed concrete floors, walls lined with intriguing art and playful references to local culture displayed on the walls are complemented by ambient lighting and comfortable accents of color, creating a high-energy yet cosy space for gatherings, special events or cocktails.

The hotel’s 24/7 B&F (Beverage & Food), smart and fun self-service concept gives guests who live a 24/7 lifestyle access to what they want, whenever they want it. Want a late-night, post-party, snack? Head to the Grab’n’Go station for some carb-loading goodies in the early hours of the morning, safe in the knowledge you can purge your sins in the morning with a healthy fresh juice from the very same spot.

The 220 contemporary bedrooms have a functional, flexible and uncluttered design and are outfitted with 49″ flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, and abundant USB ports. Want to Netflix and chill? No problem – just plug in your details and recover from that big night until late check-out at 3pm.

Moxy Frankfurt East marks the brand’s seventh hotel in Germany, with recent openings in Stuttgart and Ludwigshafen, and another sixteen properties due to open by the end of 2019 in key cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg and Dusseldorf.
